There were two of us. One
vegetarian, one not. We shared these:
Vegetable Combination $9.95
Combination of Misir Wat (lentils),
gomen (collard greens), tikil gomen (cabbage), and fosolia (string beans) served
with selata (garden salad).
Shiro Wat (peas) $3.50
Ground peas cooked with berbere (red
chili powder and spices) and onion and seasoned with garlic and ginger
Yekik Alicha (split peas) $3.50
Yellow split peas cooked with onion,
tumeric, and herbs
Azifah (lentil) $3.50
Whole brown lentils blended with onion,
green pepper and spices
All entrees are served in Injera (a
crêpe-like sourdough bread made from a mixture of teff and wheat flour.
Teff is a grain.) Instead of utensils, the meal is eaten by tearing off a
piece of injera with your hands, scooping up some of the food and enjoying.
Service is excellent. I asked
what was good for vegetarians, and the server suggested the above. She
said we'd get a sampling of everything with this. It was fun, and my
non-vegetarian companion enjoyed it too.
It was great and very filling.
I would definitely go there again!
