Topic: The Story of Joseph – one of Jacob’s sons.

In general: The Bible stories don’t just exist so that we can learn facts about the past. They convey to us truths about God.

Remember:

God is powerful; God makes promises — and God keeps His promises; He’s gracious (He gives undeserved love; He forgives; He’s compassionate.) He loves us. He’s righteous (sin does get punished).

Today we look at Joseph, and how his life fit into God’s plan

Genesis- chapter 37 – Joseph’s dreams; Joseph sold

Joseph was the favorite.

Joseph tells his brothers his dream.

Joseph was arrogant.

His brothers hated him; they wanted to kill him; they sold him into slavery instead of killing him .

Genesis- chapter 39 –

Joseph is faithful to God…and that gets him into trouble.

God is with Joseph.

There was something different about Joseph, b/c he was blessed by God.

Joseph was temped, and he was faithful.

If you are tempted, get away from the situation.
