Just a little piece about our holiday in Rhode Island. (be sure to click on all the blue highlighted phrases to see the associated pictures)
These pictures were taken of our condo on Fishing Cove Road at Wickford Harbor, Cedarhurst Condominiums. Cedarhurst Condominiums is the same size as La Vida Buena in Arizona, 102 units versus 101 units, respectively. Amenities at Cedarhurst were two tennis courts, swimming pool, boat and RV storage lot, central garden spaces available, small club house, spacious grounds with grass throughout, and a small children’s play ground. The Cedarhurst Owners Association also leased a new Ford 250 4x4 truck for their managers use in snow removal. A unique feature of the water front harbor was that during low tide, the boats still remained fully afloat, no ‘high and dry’ situations during low tide. The harbor and the boats in the harbor appeared to be fully protected from high winds and any weather affects. It also appeared that there were community wood stacks for fireplace use, although we did not confirm how this wood was handled within the community. Recycle products were carried to the curb by the mail boxes, while garbage sacks were left in a closed closet area of each unit and removed once per week by the garbage company personnel. Cedarhurst's monthly association dues are $140 per month. One significant difference is the exterior maintenance is an additional expense of the individual owner. And, projects like painting and roof repairs are on a scheduled arrangement and are not optional for the owner.
Our unit had an on-grade wood patio at the front. Each unit has an assigned open parking stall and a second assigned spot across the street. There were waterside patios on the two story structure off the master bedroom and off the formal dining area. The area is well protected from storms that might come from the southwest. The rains we did experience were gentle and didn't seem to show threats to the area or the water front.
South across Wickford Harbor at a distance of about two miles was Wickford Marina, a large safe harbor to many boats just off Narragansett Bay.
An adjoining custom housing area to the Southwest had homes in the $800K and up price range. The long elevated dock was a private dock for the residents of this area. Views from the point near this area allows you to see the St James bridge going across the West Passage of Narragansett Bay to St James Island. Near this bridge, settled in 14 feet of water, is Bill's life long desire to own a real lighthouse on the sea. Sue says it looks a little cold and dreary!
Our unit was the third stairway from the right side of the building, the one that has the self-standing pipe for the fireplace chimney.
