Our HomeLink exchange in September 2002, was a pleasurable experience that took us to Ridgeway, Ontario and then on to North Kingstown, Rhode Island. We were gone just 31 days, leaving on August 26, our 40th anniversary. We flew into Baltimore Washington International airport on America West stand-by. From BWI, we hubbed up to Buffalo, New York and back, then hubbed up and back to Providence, Rhode Island via Southwest Airlines.
The Beaulieu family initiated our exchange to Ridgeway, Ontario, Canada. We were interested in visiting Western New York, so that location made us close by, just across the border. While in Western New York, Orleans County, we visited the site of my great grandfather's 152 acre farm on the shore of Lake Ontario, which he sold in 1873 as he moved to Harrison County, Iowa.
While in Ridgeway, we visited the immediate area around the country setting of Oakhill Forest, a rural/suberbia setting just two miles North of Lake Erie near a famous resort city of Crystal Beach, Ontario. We also visited Niagara Falls, Niagara on the Lake, Toronto, and London.
As we were finalizing our plans with the Beaulieus, the Abbotts from Wickford Harbor, in Kingstown County, Rhode Island sent an email inquiring about coming to Arizona in September. We broached the subject of the last two weeks of September, allowing us to continue on to Rhode Island on our way home. All in all, it was a back-to-back dream exchange that worked out just perfectly, and, we hope in everyone's respects too. The Beaulieu's and the Abbott's were both previous kitten families, thus they opted to let Sambow stay at home under their very gracious care. Sambow could not have been happier!
While on Fishing Cove Road on Wickford Harbor, we toured a lot of New England. Some of the spots we spent time were Duxbury, MA, Kennebunkport, ME, Martha's Vineyard, Narragansett, RI, Newport, RI, and Wickford, RI.
