Posters are a valuable and effective means to generate public awareness of a missing loved one. However, posters may get lost in the clutter of other items posted and therefore may not get noticed, and when out in the elements, do not last long. Families of missing persons should maintain an ongoing strategy to keep posters up in key locations locally & nationwide.
A website is also highly effective in spreading information about the missing person. Especially, as in our case,. as time goes by with no word, one must work hard to cover a nationwide area. The more public awareness that is generated, the better the chance of finding the missing loved one.
A small but powerful means of spreading information about a missing person comes in the form of business cards. These are very portable, & can simply be handed to individuals, and made available to the public in a wide variety of businesses. Another idea is to simply enclose a card in your monthly payments for bills, especially to those that are outside of your local area. The business card gives the basic description of the missing person and includes a small photo, as well as the website information. The hope is that the card recipient will go to the website and look at the larger photos, as well as gather more details about the case, and then tell others about the website and the story via email. Again, more public awareness equals more of a chance to find your family member. Here is a sample of our business card that features our missing loved one, Jason:
