Updates From March 2004

We are pleased to announce that Jason will be included in the C.U.E.Center for Missing Person's "On the Road to Remember Tour 2004".

This is a cross country tour featuring older, cold cases of missing persons from across the U.S.A. The tour begins on March 18th in North Carolina and goes west to California and then to Washington State. 37 missing persons will be featured in over a dozen stops on the route. (The tour will not be going through Nebraska.) Major media outlets will have an opportunity to showcase these missing loved ones in the hopes that there be a resolution to these cases.

While we would love nothing more than to have a resolution to Jason's case, our hope is that the tour will result in a reunion for at least one of the families affected by this tragedy. We applaud the CUE Center for their work for the missing.

Announcing the Jason Jolkowski Scholarship:

Jason struggled in school because of learning disabilities in the areas of speech and motor impairments. There are few scholarship opportunities for students with learning disabilities.

Recently, a woman on the Internet spearheaded a t-shirt fundraiser for our nonprofit organization, Project Jason. It seemed appropriate to use the money to give back to the community what they gave to us when Jason went missing. It seemed even more appropriate to be able to assist a student with higher education who may have not the opportunity because of having a learning disability.

We believe that Jason would approve of this idea wholeheartedly. The details for the scholarship are still in progress. A special webpage will be added to the Project Jason website just as soon as these details are finalized.

Please pray for Jason, our family, and all families of missing persons.

March 28, 2004:

LB203 was finally passed out of committee, however, as this is a short legislative session, it may not even come up for debate. We will then start the process all over again next year. I will keep working at this until Jason's Law is passed. All of our efforts will be well worth it.

I will be taking Jason's poster and story with me to Missing Person's Day in Albany, NY, to be held on Sunday, April 4th. Missing Person's Day is sponsored by The Center for Hope, a nonprofit organization similar to Project Jason. The Lyall's, whose daughter, Suzanne was abducted in 1998, do much on a national basis to bring about awareness for our mutual cause. For additional information, please see their website.

May 29, 2004: Jason's Law did not get to the Senate floor for debate this year, so we are working on preparing it for next year. I believe that with the help of many who stand behind us, we will get it passed in the next session.
At the New York State Missing Person's Day, I was asked to speak about Jason and Project Jason for a few minutes. I met many families of the missing. It was a good experience, but also a clear reminder of the one thing I want that I do not have: my son. I will never give up the hope of finding him.    Continue on here.
