Magnanimous Benefactor

Beaten and spat upon,
Flogged and betrayed,
He continued in His love.

Defamed and defiled,
Then, and also today,
His commitment remained clear.

Abandoned by His friends,
As cold iron pierced His flesh
He carried on for us.

The Magnanimous Benefactor,
Who, in death, forgave,
To purchase life for all.

Our precious Giver of Life,
Made that unselfish sacrifice,
To end the grasp of death.
