I guess you want to learn about me. Obviously, or you wouldn’t have come to this page. I love two things, animals and books. Oops, forgot one, make that three things, animals, books and chocolate. I am a self-confirmed chocaholic.

Well, let’s see. I was born and raised in Wisconsin. When I turned eighteen, I left my job as a legal secretary to join the Army. After traveling across the country and Germany and serving my four years, I went back home to Wisconsin. I eventually got tired of the cold and moved to Arizona and I’ve been here ever since. I LOVE IT HERE!!!

On to love number one: animals. I’ve always loved animals and actually prefer their company to the company of people. You always know where you stand with an animal. My husband and I were state and federally licensed wildlife rehabilatators for a few years. We had a bigger variety of animals pass through the house than you can imagine, everything from a gila monster to an imprinted great horned owl. Ah, the stories I could tell: the divebombing kestrel; the male oppossum marking his territory all over my husband’s belongings; right down to the harris hawk that got me started and used to watch the rodents in their cages. We had to get out of the wildlife, my heart just wouldn’t take it anymore, hurt too much when we lost them.

From wildlife, we went to ferret rescue. We have had fifty-six ferrets in our home at one time. The easiest way to describe a ferret is “an eternal two year old”; constantly into everything and don’t take your eyes off them for a second. I can’t tell you how many times we had to do a search for the remote control for the TV. I can honestly say that out of all the animals we have had, the ferrets are the most fun, and the most interactive.

At the current time, we’ve managed to collect from various sources, two western box turtles, Shelly and Bryce, and their offspring, one iguana, MS, who is longer than I am tall, three medium to large dogs, Sassy, Cheyenne and Beowulf; fourteen cats, two parakeets, Allanon and Shannara; two finches, Boogey and Becall; three Bettas; six ferrets; Gwynevere, Taliesin, Rhiannon, Angus, Hershey and Wild; and five sugargliders.

Ah, books, another of my loves. I’ve always been a reader and always will be. This is one thing I definitely thank my mother for, she instilled a love of reading in me that just won’t die. One of my favorite places to go is the library. I love the smell of old books. I’ve got books all over the house, in just about every room. I’ve got leaning towers of books, which, trust me, don’t do well with cats, but we won’t go there. I read just about anything and everything and if you asked me to pick a favorite book, I couldn’t. The same thing with authors. I love too many to pick just one, or even ten. I love romance, that’s a given. I adore fantasy, enjoy science fiction, read everything I can about World War II, Czar Nicholas. I read everything from John Grisham to Tom Clancy. I love ebooks as well and found several new authors I love. Actually, you won’t find me without either a book or my Sony Clie.

Well, that’s enough about me.
