San Marcos All Veteran’s Memorial

Did you know that the San Marcos City Council unanimously approved an All Veterans Memorial to be built at Helen Bougher Park? A group of San Marcos Veterans and community members formed a committee and designed the San Marcos Memorial to honor any Veteran who have served or are serving honorably in the United States Armed Services with a permanent public monument. If there is a loved one that is a veteran and you would like to honor him or her with a permanent marker, click on the tile order information button above.

If you would like to donate to a worthwhile cause that honors the sacrifices veterans have made to our Country and Community, you can do so and receive a magnetic ribbon to proudly reflect your support.

The Committee is also looking for larger contributions, cash or in-kind,  from Companies, Organizations, and Individuals to help us build the Memorial.

You can contact Luanne Hulsizer at luanne@cox.net or 760.798.1975 for more information.

Located at the corner of Woodland Parkway and Borden Road at the Helen Bougher Park, the memorial design will be incorporated into the eastern side of the park allowing for the grassy area to the west to remain intact for neighborhood play.

The design will include a slightly curved memorial wall with Veteran’s names etched on travertine tiles in three sizes. A star shaped granite fountain with cascading water element encompassed by a circular wall will be a serene feature.

The site will also include a permanent, illuminated American Flag and five flags representing each branch of the armed services and a POW/MIA flag. There will be three bronze statues of soldiers "guarding" the Memorial.
