A cousin sent me a link to your fantastic website which includes C. R. Roberts. I am sending his family outline, if you're interested.

According to my information from my files, Charley Roberts served in Confed. Army, Company K, 3rd ATR. INF. I have his birth as abt. 1850. His name was Charley Lee Roberts, though. I think "Lee" is correct because my father was Corbett Lee, Charley's grandson. It's possible the tombstone was misread as "R", but should be "L". I assumed he might be buried near Sweetwater, OK, as that's where my grandfather, William Joseph Roberts/Nannie Inez (GINN) settled when they came from AL.

Charley had two Roberts brothers: Joseph Randolph and William. I found living descendants of  Joseph Randolph, but know nothing about Willliam. If you run across anything about other siblings of Charley Lee Roberts (Charles R?), I'd appreciate your telling me.

 Joe R. Roberts, Sr. was a confederate veteran & pvt. in the 8th Texas Cavalry , the famed "Terry's Texas Rangers". (Mt. Hope Cemetery directory and tombstone info) The roster shows J.R. Roberts in Company E, organized in Gonzales Co. but no record there or in Natl. Archives. Not on application list for Confederate pension. (Note by Glenna: I remember some veterans frowned on asking for a pension or anything else. They were too proud to accept help, especially from the government, and regarded those who did with disdain. )
