I live with my husband John.  We met at an honors conference at Mills College in 1995.  John was the dean of the honors college at the University of Montana, and I was the director of the honors program at Chaffey College.  We just happened to sit across the table from each other at lunch, and as we began to converse, we found our shared interest in classical studies.  He had spent a year in Greece on a Fulbright, and I was off to Rome on a Fulbright.  I had studied in Greece, too, and it turned out we knew some of the same people.  We didn't see each other again until the next honors conference a year later, but then we began to correspond, and by 1997 we were committed to marriage.  John moved to California and began teaching philosophy at Cerritos College and directing the honors program there.  He got to know my children and I got to know his, but we had never had all four of our children together until the Christmas of 2002.  Here we all are--finally!
