Priscilla and Bob Eyler

History

With over 35 years experience, Bob Eyler has always been interested in cars.  His dad managed to sneak him into a drag race when he was 14, so small-block Chevy (and sometimes Hemi) power has always fascinated him.

Over a lifetime of working on and with cars, he's designed, built and restored sand rails, dune buggies, a '30 Model A roadster hi-boy, 2 '34 Ford's and restored two classic 1959 Corvettes from the frame up – just to mention a few.  Over the years, Bob has constructed a total of between 25 and 30 cars including a wide range of Classic Motor Carriage kits (speedsters, MG-TD and Gazelle) learning about kit cars the hard way.  So he can appreciate the frustrations that can happen and know how to avoid them.

So, it was inevitable that when he wanted to chop a top of a '67 bug and got quotes from $3500 to $5500, he decided it was easier to do it himself ..... well, maybe not easier but certainly cheaper.  So began the life of The Glass Station.

First you chop it, fat it, suicide it and add a final touch of a split rear window.  Take off the drip rails and all design lines .... then you design it so that it will either drop onto a stock VW pan .... or onto a custom tubular steel frame with a Mustang II front end and 9" Ford rear end to hold anything you want up front.

The Glass Station has been in business since 1995 and in production since the beginning of 1998.  Production was held off until we were able to deliver the kind of product we would be proud to ship and also the kind of product we would want to receive if we were the paying customer.

We've taken a 1st place in every car show entered ... this year we took not only a 1st place at this year's VW Jamboree in Irvine, CA .... but we also took Best of Show (see photo).

If you want to be different and stand out .... this is a way to do it.  We can't drive down the street or park the car without drawing crowds .... you can, too.
