The Final Days of PT518

The following information was taken from a Russian publication that told of the fate of various U.S. Navy vessels that were turned over to the Russian Navy as part of the Lend Lease program during the Second World War.

An E-mail friend, who had read my web pages regarding PT518, sent me a photocopy of the original, Russian language, paragraph that was obviously related to PT518. Since neither of us could read the material, he was able to call upon his Russian contact to translate the paragraph.

I want to thank Chip Marshall, my e-mail friend, for sending the material to me and for arranging for its translation. I want to thank Vadim Sokolov, his Russian contact, for his effort to translate the material into English.

"TK-438 (before June 14, 1945 - PT518). Former American, was built in 1944 at Elco and Harbor Boat in USA. Received on April 7, 1945 by Soviet Navy under Lend Lease.
