Great Tunes and Videos
An integral part of the German entertainment scene since the late '70s, Rockpalast was launched as a live music television showcase produced by WDR at major venues including the country's largest indoor concert halls and the spectacular outdoor stage of the Loreley on the Rhine. This broadcast, from July 1977, captures one of the '70s' most galvanic live bands, Little Feat, in the historic six-man lineup associated with its finest work, featuring its original leader, singer, songwriter, and guitarist Lowell George, keyboardist Bill Payne, guitarist Paul Barrere, bassist Kenny Gradney, drummer Richie Hayward, and percussionist Sam Clayton. The band's sound initially conceived as a shrewd synthesis of rock, blues, and country, had evolved during the early '70s into a slippery, signature sound laced with strong New Orleans rhythm & blues accents as well as intricate time signatures and eclectic harmonies. This 74-minute broadcast draws from a set list dominated by recognized Feat concert classics. The DVD also includes commentary from band members Payne and Barrere.
