PENINSULA VOLKSWAGEN CLUB
MINUTES FOR OCTOBER
6TH 2002
1. Reports: The Peninsula Volkswagen Club met at Steve and
John=s Restaurant for the October meeting. President Eichelberger opened the meeting at 7:12 PM. There
were 17 people in attendance.
Secretary Rex Frey read the minutes of the previous meeting and made a
motion that the minutes be approved as written. Motion carried and the minutes were accepted. President Eichelberger, acting as
interim Treasurer, reported a balance of $. Expenditures and receipts were $ for Steve and John’s,
the 50/50 drawing netted $, and the tip basket added $. He made a motion that the report be
accepted as read. The motion
carried. Notice was received from
the Virginia State Corporation Commission that registration was due and the
assessment is $. A motion was made
to approve renewal re-registration.
After discussion, the motion was approved.
2. Web site
Update: Vice President
Robert Alexander, web master, continues to work on our web. If you have photos that you would like
on the web, please send to Robert.
He and Rex also discussed a virus that had gotten into Rex’s
computer. Robert sent a notice to
club members to be on alert for any viruses and not to open anything from an
unknown. Rex has cleaned out his
virus problem.
3. Club
Activities On Sunday, September 8th, Fourteen members, two
dogs, and guests went on the
Picnic Cruise up the Colonial Parkway, departing Patriot Square at 5:00 PM.
Almost everyone brought their own food, drinks, blankets and chairs. There was
sharing of the picnic baskets and everyone was well fed. The picnic site was on the James River
with a wonderful view. The weather
and sunset made for a perfect evening.
President Eichelberger opened a short business meeting by calling for
the minutes not be read so that more time could be spent walking on the river
edge. Motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 6:45. The return route was at the option of
each family. Gym Shek advised that
he had received some new information about the VW distributor rotors
4. Coming Events :
Friday Night Cruise, Kiln Creek Golf & Country Club – every
Friday night; Hampton Holiday Celebration “Christmas” parade is November
23rd. Assembly will be at East-West Expressway and North Armistead Ave. Details will be available at the
November meeting.
5. Guests : Samantha and Rufus Burney, VW owners of the
following: 61 VW Beetle, 65 Notch
Back, 62 Notch Back and a Square back.
Rufus is with the Air Force and has extensive knowledge of aircraft
maintenance and VW engine
overhaul. Jeremy Hoggard, a
potential member, has a keen interest in VW’s.

7. Adjournment:
The 50/50 drawing netted the Club $, the tip basket yielded $ for a

members. With no further business,
the meeting adjourned at 8:22 PM.
