Peninsula Volkswagen Club

July 6th, 2003 Meeting

I.               Call to Order: Vice Pres. Robert Alexander called the meeting to order at 7:17pm.

a.     Members Present: 7

b.     Guests Present: 0

II.             Reports:

a.     Treasurer’s Report: Given by Alexander as prepared by Eichenburger

b.     Secretary’s Report:

                                                     i.     Minutes of last meeting were read by Robert Alexander

1.     Names of guests last month were correct as noted in minutes.

                                                      ii.     Website Update:

1.     The web site still needs to be updated w/ by law changes.

2.     More info is coming on events including the Fall Classic

                                                        iii.     Constitutional Amendments or By-Law Changes:

1.     will be in upcoming meetings.

III.           Old Business:

a.     Name: Carl Yeargin Business: 4th July Parade

                                                     i.     Carl talked to Randy who was pleased with the parade.

                                                      ii.     Carl drove the Town Crier in his light blue Karmann Ghia Convertible while Carl’s niece Barbara drove his convertible bug. The Sorrels brought there ’64 ragtop. Rex Fry drove his Ghia and Mark Rogers had his orange convertible.

                                                        iii.     The weather was hot and tics were dropping from the trees that had the only shade.

                                                       iv.     We’ve been in the parade for a long time along with the Antique Car Club and we have consistently looked good.

                                                      v.     Bill Sorrel suggested we have a large banner.

IV.           New Business:

a.     Name: Alexander  Business: Burney’s recommendation of a Preferred Shops list.

                                                     i.     One thing that Alex will look into is putting up a poll on the web.

                                                      ii.     Another way that we should consider is having our members only recommendations.

b.     Name: Alexander  Business: VPCCC meeting and upcoming Fall Classic

                                                     i.     Volenteers are needed for helping park trailers from 8am to 11am on the 25th of October.

                                                      ii.     Watch our site for more information on the Fall Classic

                                                        iii.     Everyone is invited to go to the VPCCC meetings 3rd Thursday of the Month. Also anyone can be the Delegate for VPCCC.

V.             Open Forum:

a.     Name: Jim Collins  Subject: The Mexico plant is ending production of the Beetle (old style)

                                                     i.     This may affect the supply of “German” parts that are actually made in Mexico at this plant.

                                                      ii.     Other parts should be unaffected such as body parts from Tabco.

VI.           Adjournment:        time adjourned: 7:55pm
