Peninsula Volkswagen Club
I. Call to Order: President Greg Anderson called the meeting to order at 7:10pm.
a. Members Present: 23
b. Guests Present: 5
i. Oliver Lune (forgive the probable misspelling) guest of Mark Rogers.
ii. Levi Lanning, a friend of Jeremy and a body man at a shop just down the street.
iii. Jeff Bateman who has a VW in progress.
iv. Matt Haggas (I’m sure I’ve misspelled that one) and wife both drove there bugs in.
II. Reports:
a. Secretary’s Report:
i. Minutes of last meeting were read by Pres Anderson since acting secretary, Alexander ran out to his bug for the moment.
ii. Alexander explained that the posted minutes will not have the dollar amounts in them as voted on in the last meeting.
b. Treasurer’s Report:
i. Last meetings totals:
ii. Bank Balance:
iii. Other income or expenses: none
c. Website Update: Alexander advised that
i. pictures from the Bug Out are posted and
ii. the calendar has info on the Chippokes show and more.
iii. Also went over some of the WEB related club member benefits.
III. Old Business:
a. Name: Mike Maniscalco Business: the Bug Out 53
i. Mike won 2nd in Radial Class and Mark Rogers won 1st in Slalome
ii. Mike told us all about his trip up & breaking his clutch throw-out arm.
b. Name: Rex Frey Business: Chippokes Steam & Gas Engine Show.
i. Registrations can be given to Rex tonight and he’ll mail them.
ii. A caravan will leave Patriot Square Shopping Center promptly at 8am on Saturday.
c. Business: Changes to the by-laws as discussed in last meeting were put to a vote.
i. Copies of Bob Hoard’s changes were pass around for those who hadn’t seen it.
ii. The vote was seconded and carried and the changes now stand.
d. Name: Greg Anderson, Business: 4th of July Parade in Yorktown.
i. More information will be arriving soon so watch the web site for more info.
ii. Those who want to ride in the parade plan to meet at Patriot Sq. Shopping Center at 10- 10:30 am to convoy to the staging area.
IV. New Business:
a. Name: Rob Alexander Business: Bob Hoard’s proposed changes to the Constitution.
i. Copies of the changes were passed around with plans to possible vote next meeting.
ii. If anyone needs a copy of the whole constitution you can get it online or call Rob Alexander 867-6268 to have a copy mailed to you.
V. Open Forum:
a. Name: Sheck Ng Subject: The distributor clamp and variation there of.
i. He pointed out with help from Vince the variations of how the nut is accessed.
b. Name: Rufus Burney Subject: Body shops and a recommendation for an organized list of club recommended shops based on objective standards and value.
i. Rufus relayed information about Tim’s Custom that he brought his Notch to.
ii. Such information from all the members with shops in the area could form the backbone to a list rating these shops and possible soliciting club discounts.
iii. An effort should be made to avoid conflict of interest such as members promoting their own business for profit.
iv. Someone mentioned that L&W in Norfolk was a good machine shop.
v. Vince offered advice and help to anyone trying to do their own body work & added that he is able to do line boring in his garage.
c. Name: Rob Alexander Subject: Break bleeding tool (he called speed bleeding.)
i. Used a piece of bike inner-tube and closed one and mounted the other end over the reservoir opening then, connecting an electric air pump, used it to pressurize the break fluid and quickly clear a new air filled main line.
ii. Vince, Sheck and others joined in the discussion and pointed out the systems available like this as well as one that used vacuum pressure to draw the fluid out at the wheel.
