Peninsula Volkswagen Club

Minutes for March 2cnd, 2003

 

  1. Reports: The Peninsula Volkswagen Club met at Steve & John’s Restaurant for the March meeting. President Greg Anderson opened the meeting.
    1. Treasurer’s Report:  Treas. Charles Eichelberger gave his report.
    2. Secretary’s Reports:

                                                     i.     Minutes:  VP Robert Alexander, as acting secretary, read the minutes from last meeting and the tip basket amount was corrected to $28.00.

                                                      ii.     Web site update:  Alexander explained that the members page is continually being updated and members are invited to send pictures and info to add to and correct this page.

1.     One of the members asked about a physical scrap book that the club used to have and if anyone had it.  It was agreed that we would ask around for it and if found we would keep the scrap book with the club’s Secretary and put some of the pictures up on the web site.

2.     Bob Hoard brought forth a new redraft of the by-laws that he is submitting for discussion at the next meeting. Alexander will have this redraft posted to the web site during the month and at the April meeting we will discus the differences and make any changes that members agree on.  This new amended draft will then be posted and possibly voted on in the May meeting.

  1. Old and New Business:  The floor was opened up to old and new business discussions.
    1. Tom Norris who is also the president of VCOT talked about

                                                     i.     the Beach Events show in April 25th – 27th.  VCOT has an area between 20th and 22nd Streets set aside for VW’s.

                                                      ii.     Also the cruise from the Rock-o-la Café will still go on but the date is up in the air for now.

    1. Jim Collins mentioned that the notification of meetings has not happened as it had.  Alexander as acting secretary is responsible for this and promised to make sure notifications go out for next meeting by email or phone.
  1. Open Forum:
    1. Gim Sheck Ng started it off with talk about distributors and then about carburetors and their effect on fuel efficiency.  Others joined in including guest Rufus Berny who said it was his experience that almost any carb can be rebuilt.
    2. Bill Sorrell brought up his trials finding insurance and he found a good deal with Grundies Insurance at $100/year for $10K of “agreed value” insurance.
  2. Adjournment:  The tip basket collected an even $ and the 50/50 brought in $ and paid out $ to non other than Pres. Greg Anderson.  Bill Sorrell became a new member and for $15.00 and we paid out $ to Steve & John’s.
