Peninsula VW Club Minutes - May 2005

 

       The May 2005 meeting of the Peninsula VW Club was called to order by President Bill Sorrell at 708 PM on Sunday May 1 with 17 members and one guest in attendance. Secretary Tom Norris read the April minutes, which were accepted as read.  Bill also presented the treasurer‚s report which was accepted as read.  He further reported highlights from the Virginia Peninsula Car Club Council meeting, which featured a presentation by Chris Lemonds about Langley Speedway including a demonstration of „Hammerhead Cleaning Frenzy‰ automotive cleaning products. Bill then mentioned the upcoming show at the VA Hospital in Hampton on Saturday June 4.  Vice-President Rob Alexander presented the Webmaster report and noted that email addresses would be revised as necessary.

 

Under old business ∑.  The Herbie Fully Loaded show/cruise-in is set for Friday June 24 at AMC 24 in Hampton. Details are on the website.  Future VW shows/cruises were mentioned, including the ODAC VW show in Chester on Saturday May 7 and the annual cruise to Chippokes Steam and Gas Show on Saturday June 11. 8140 dollars was raised through the assistance of Greg Anderson and other PVWC members who assisted with the WHRV call-in show.  Rob attended the Virginia Beach boardwalk show and took pictures.  The club voted to sponsor a „Best Air Cooled‰ trophy at this year‚s Virginia Fall Classic car show in Newport News. Tom gave a reminder about Bugout 57 on Memorial Day weekend, with an added attraction of the „Herbie and Friends‰ tour.

 

Under new business ∑  It was mentioned that the owner of Car Care on Route 17 has a 69 or 70 VW to give away for parts. The Picketts suggested a cruise to Pop‚s Drive In which was scheduled for Saturday May 14.

 

Tip basket brought in $17, and the 50/50 raised $24. Rich Hendrick won $12, and several members won small flashlights donated by Shek.

 

Meeting was adjourned at 810 PM.
