Prader-Willi Syndrome Arizona Association is a non-profit corporation organized and incorporated pursuant to the laws of the State of Arizona. The current board of directors consist of parents and professionals who have understanding, education, and experience in assisting persons with PWS to achieve the highest quality of life possible with existing resources.

Membership in PWSAA is open to all persons, institutions, and organizations regardless of location, race, creed, nationality or age. It is the intent of PWSAA to serve persons of all races, creeds and nationalities throughout the state of Arizona.

This board has accomplished the following during their present term:

  • Opened two additional group homes just for Prader-Willi Syndrome
  • Trained case managers and agency staff in Pima County
  • Hosted a statewide conference on nutrition with Gail Thune of NM
  • Sponsored a self-advocacy group of young adults with PWS in Tucson
  • Participated in Best Practices Fair in Tucson
  • Sponsored support group and family activities in Phoenix area
  • Procured Tucson city employee donations through United Way
  • Sponsored yet another successful Walk-Along in Tucson
  • Encouraged expansion of eligibility criteria for persons with PWS
  • Met with the Governor’s Council and the Dept. of DD regarding PWS
  • Expanded the PWSAA web page on the internet
  • Advocated for children and adults in procuring needed services
