My Philosophy and Approach to Astrology...

My studies of Astrology have led me into the deeper implications of psychoastrology - a psychological interpretation of astrological symbols. I strongly believe that this approach is the most relevant and successful for understanding and coping with life in the 21st century. However, to the layperson I understand that much of Astrology's psychojargon is confusing and seemingly out-of-touch with everyday concerns. Astrology is like algebra, a symbol shorthand that describes life and our place in it. So it's very easy for astrologers to lapse into astrological terms - you know, Mars trine this, Pluto square that, something else in the 10th House is quincunx your Sun... I try to keep that type of jargon at a minimum. I also do not sugarcoat things. I tell it as I see it. Don't get me wrong. I won't tell you that your Neptune is afflicted so don't ever fall asleep. Nor vice versa - I won't claim that your Jupiter is just wonderful, so expect to win the lottery every other weekend. In my opinion, that approach is harmful, and useless at best. I will tell you of obstacles that challenge you, as well as possibilities that promote progress. My interest is in your growth in personal understanding, in being a catalyst to inspire that Eureeka! moment.
The Algebra of Life
A birth horoscope, also known as a natal chart, describes our personality characteristics, psychological motivations, and growth potentials. These many symbols generally group together to form one or more major themes that represent our basic motivations. They also indicate our characteristic manner of expressing these motivations. When we understand the what and how of our personality expression, we start to comprehend the why. This in turn allows us to see the potential for and direction of future constructive growth. Just as a kaleidoscope uses a few basic colors to present splendid designs, so also does the natal chart describe the complete person based on patterns composed of a few basic themes.
We learned our adult psychological patterns from our parents when we were children - usually from one dominant parent. This parent may or may not be the controlling parent within the marriage relationship or even the domestic environment. They also may not be the parent we are closest to emotionally. Yet, from our subconscious perspective as a young child, there is generally one parent who is more influential on our psychological development. As we grow and mature, so also do our parents grow and change, sometimes so much so that we do not consciously remember our own childhood conditioning. Yet we often repeat subconsciously what we have learned (even into adult maturity), though we consciously seek otherwise. The natal birthchart reveals these hidden motivations and psychological patterns. Once they are consciously understood, we can begin to understand and change those aspects of our personality that interfere with constructive growth and maturity.

About Quincunx Astrology

Douglas Noblehorse
I've studied Astrology since 1967, when I was introduced to the whole field of metaphysics through an article on Jeane Dixon in Reader's Digest. This was several years before her newspaper astrological column, so I was just fascinated by her powers of prophecy. At about this same period in life I was quite disenchanted by my fundamentalist evangelical Christian upbringing, so one book after another about paranormal phenomena opened up whole new worlds for me. I know that sounds cliched, but it's true. I soon discovered Astrology, and my studies began in earnest. (On the spiritual side, my search for a personal belief system led me through readings on several mainstream religions, but I soon settled into a deeply-held belief in reincarnation, and today I consider myself a Taoist.) I am a member of a couple of astrological associations, studied briefly with Eugene Moore in New Jersey in the late Seventies, and have been a member of the American Federation of Astrologers. Throughout the years I have developed a deep interest in humanistic, psychological astrology. Some of my major influences are Dane Rudhyar, Stephen Arroyo, Alan Oken, Betty Lundsted and Alexander Ruperti. To keep me from getting lost in the ivory towers I also owe a debt to Sakoian & Acker. Quincunx Astrology is my vehicle for sharing my knowledge with those interested in the hopes that I can participate in some small way with the furtherance and the acceptance of the study of Astrology. Now you're probably sorry you even asked the question!

If You Are A Skeptic, Please Read This

Astrology certainly seems to attract it's share of skeptics and doubters who feel it is their moral and scientific duty to destroy it. If this describes you, then I ask you this: If you do not believe in Astrology, or at the very least if you cannot maintain an open mind - what are you doing here? I have neither the time nor the inclination to prove astrology to every doubter I run into. If you choose not to believe nor to accept, fine. However, please do not try to tell me what I should think or believe in. After all my years of study I accept the validity Astrology. I have seen it work in my own life and in the lives of those around me. I understand its benefits and its value. If you cannot accept this, then please go here!. Thank you.
