THIRD ANNUAL STEWARDSHIP FAIR
COMING TO QUEEN OF APOSTLES
MARCH 7 & 8, 2009

Everyone is invited to participate in this year’s Stewardship Fair, to be held March 7 and 8. Over twenty parish organizations will be present to acquaint parishioners with opportunities to grow in the stewardship pillars of hospitality, prayer, formation and service. See what Queens has to offer for adults and children alike. Below is a list of many of this year’s participants.

BIRTHRIGHT
* Need volunteer counselors (training provided)
* Help with advertisement, public speaking, newsletter production, coordinating community resources and supplies

BOOK CLUB
* Discuss Christian books in a relaxed setting

BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS
* Need volunteers to help with seasonal parish clean-up
* Assist with parish facility repairs

CHRIST RENEWS HIS PARISH
* Need willing men and women to devote time to attend a weekend retreat focused on personal and parish renewal in Christ

DEAD THEOLOGIANS SOCIETY
* Need youth in grades 9 - 12 to join us twice a month for our meetings
* Would welcome adults interested in working with this age group

ENVIRONMENT
* Decorate the Church throughout year

FAMILY LIFE
* Supports family oriented activities throughout parish
* Parish sports teams
* Parish Dances and game nights

FINANCE
* Oversees parish budget
* Helps promote fundraisers

GABRIEL’S CORNER
* Help mothers facing an unexpected pregnancy
* Provide assistance throughout pregnancy and beyond
* Need for volunteer counselors, nurses, administrative assistants, general cleaning and maintenance
* Sign up for “40 Days for Life National Campaign”
* Sign up to pray at Gabriel’s Corner for an end to abortion

GENERATIONS OF FAITH
* Teaching assistants to help our main teachers with their lessons, planning and materials
* Kitchen helpers to help prepare, serve or clean up from the supper
* People who can help with hall setup and kit stuffing
* People who have gifts for publicizing, organizing or other ways to help us succeed in our mission!

GO-GETTERS
* For those 55 and over
* Meet for lunch once a month
* Celebrate birthdays and anniversaries

LITURGICAL MINISTY
* Nurture spiritual growth by responding to God’s call as a(an) --
Lector to proclaim the Word of God
Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion to distribute the precious Body and Blood of Christ
Altar Server to assist the Priest at Mass

HEALTH CARE MINISTRY
* Stop at the Health Care table and see the results of heart attacks, stroke and high blood pressure
* See pictures of the parish health care nurses
* Sign up for health improvement classes. Matter of Balance and Tai Chi
* Get information on upcoming All-Stars Program for sixth graders

KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS
* Men’s group which supports our parish
* Need volunteers to help with fish fries

GROWING APOSTLES
* Summer day camp for school-age kids
* People to lead games, crafts, music
* People in charge of snacks and drinks
* People to help in prep, planning, decoration and rounding up “stuff”
* Teenagers to be Group Leaders

LITURGY OF THE WORD FOR CHILDREN
* Approved form of the weekly Mass readings designed for children kindergarten through 6th grade
* Volunteers needed to become teachers to help during 11:00 Mass.

MUSIC MINISTRY
* Looking for singers to join choir
* Musicians needed to enhance Mass

OUR LADY’S SOCIETY OF QUEEN OF APOSTLES
* Volunteers to provide cake or salad for funeral luncheons
* Women to call parishioners reminding them of bake sales
* Helpers at the bake sale after each Mass
* Help serve receptions - confirmation, weddings, as requested
* Clean the church as needed (dust, remove candle wax, no vacuuming)

PRAYER LINE
* Looking for people to join the prayer phone tree

STEWARDSHIP COMMITTEE
* Meets once a month
* Helps promote stewardship throughout parish through nonthly newsletter
* Puts on annual stewardship fair

RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION FOR ADULTS
* Need parishioners interested in being a sponsor (partner) for catechumens and candidates in the RCIA process (August - May).
* Need parishioners willing to pray specifically for our catechumens, candidates and sponsors
* Someone to possibly make rosaries and/or advent wreaths for our RCIA group

SACRAMENTAL PREP
* Preparation for First Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation is a Tri-Parish event
* There is an URGENT NEED for Confirmation Team members as well as back-ups
* Help with First Reconciliation and First Communion prep sessions - mostly with set up and teardowns, as well as miscellaneous jobs

SERRA CLUB
* Members always welcome
* Persons to sign up for Chalice for Vocations program

SOCIAL JUSTICE
* Sponsors/organizes annual projects in response to international, national, state and local social justice/concerns needs - i.e collection of school supplies; parish involvement in the citywide Thanksgiving Dinner and Christmas Basket projects; Lenten Rice Bowl collection.
* May sponsor/organize special events also relating to international, national, state and local needs. -i.e Work of Human Hands, Habitat for Humanity, etc.
* Usually meets the first Monday of the month
* Welcomes new members


TAIZE PRAYER
* Information for this monthly meditative prayer service

TRI-PARISH COUNCIL
* Coordinates activities between our Tri-Parish community of Queens, Holy Family, and Our Lady of Carter Lake
