1967 Mustang Coupe, 302ci, C4 Trans

Mustang side
This is right after we brought it home.  I've got new Cragar SS wheels and BFG TA Radials to go on it.

Mustang rear
Air Shocks will have to go.

Mustang ouchy
This is about the only body damage the car has.  Other than a few places in the paint that wasn't prepped real good.

Mustang int
I don't even like the shifter, so it'll have to go.

Mustang interior
Messy, messy.

Mustang front
Not too bad from a distance, but it needs a lot of TLC.

Engine
Lotsa cleaning in here.  And a real butcher job on a lot of the wiring.

Engine2
I've removed the power steering setup since it was leaking pretty badly.  Maybe in the future when i after some extra cash, i'll reinstall it with new components.

351 Cleveland, .030 over.

Its slowly coming along.

The Pro Car Elite seats are much more comfortable than the standard buckets.

Mustang interior
A little further along now.  Seats, carpet, rear seat and 3 point belts in.

quarter panel
The crunched up quarter panel came out pretty good.  New Cragar Street Star wheels and BFG Tires.

 top and trunk
Paint is coming out pretty good.  New rear glass and windshield installed.

I

It's pretty much done and on the road now.

engine
Updated engine pics.  Decided to go with a Quickfuel 780 vacuum secondary carb.  Seems to run much better with it.

engine2
I also added a/c from vintage air last year along with dual electric fans.  The regular fan with no shroud wasn't keeping it cool enough.

engine3
The a/c makes it a little more crowded, but it's nice on the hot summer days.

So far i've upgraded the 8" rear end to a 9" with posi and 3.25 gears.  New rear brakes and wheel cyclinders.  New u-joints.  Dropped the tranny pan and it looks pretty good and it shifted ok on the way home.  Installed a new Hurst V-matic shifter, but also have the stock unit if i don't like the Hurst.  As i said before, i removed the power steering setup since it was leaking so bad and the car was all over the road.  I've also got a set of Cragar SS wheels, 14x7, with BFG TA Radials.  I wanted 15's, but the price was right on these.  I've got new carpet, inside/outside door handles and window cranks, new instrument bezel, ignition switch, headlight switch, heater box assembly (since it didn't have one) and heater cable set.  I'm trying to get the dash area and wiring straightened out right now.  Then i'll probably start on the quarter panel and see how it comes out.  I'm planning on new upper/lower control arms, 1" lower coil springs, new shocks soon.  Also new bumpers, paint and some of the chrome trim.  The engine seemed to run pretty good on the way home, so hopefully it won't need too much right away, other than a good cleaning in the engine compartment.  I'll try to update as i go along.  I decided to go with the Cragar Street Star wheels, 15x7 rear and 15x6 front with BFG TA radials.

I did some checking and found out the engine is a 78 block with 351w heads.  I pulled the valve covers and it looks pretty clean, but i'm going to pull the pan and check the bottom end to see how it looks.

I finished replacing the front suspension.  I bought one of the complete front suspension kits, plus the 1" drop 620 springs.  I've also replaced the front radiator support and the right front apron since they were rotted out from battery acid.  A new Optima red top will definitely go in there.  I also decided to pull the engine and go through it.  It was smoking pretty good, so i figured what the hell.  One of these days i'll get around to the quarter panel.  Seems like something is always coming up.  That's it for now.

It's been awhile since i updated, but figured i should try to add a few pictures.  I decided to go with the 351c instead of the 302.  Its all fresh, .030 over, mild cam, Weiand X-celerator intake, HEI, Quickfuel 780 vacuum secondary, double roller chain and Fordpower headers.  I also just recently changed to a set of Ford Racing roller rockers.   I also changed the C4 pan fill over to a case fill and freshed up.  Also added a 10" converter.  I also decided to swap out the shifter.  I went with the new TCI  Outlaw Shifter.  New aluminum radiator was added after installing the Vintage Air Conditioning.  I also removed the power steering.  I never really cared for the feel of it, plus leaking and hoses hanging down.

The body work is pretty much done except for the front fenders and doors which don't need a lot of work.  A new headliner is going in next week and hopefully the paint will go on the body so i can put the windshield and back glass in.  A new billet grille is also laying in the bedroom
(along with a long of other chrome trim pieces) awaiting time for their installation.  The Scat Pro Car Elite seats look really nice sitting in there.  I'm also adding 3 point belts.

Hopefully by the end of summer it will be on the road.  Still quite a few small things to do, but it should go fairly quick.

Its slowly coming together.  I've still got to finish the doors and install new regulators.   Then on to the fenders and hood.

Pretty much finished with some minor things to do as i go along.  Finally got it on the road in April and registered it on May 1, 2007.   I just had to put new leaf springs in the rear since the old ones were sagging and letting the tire rub when going over a bump.

I also added the Haneline gauge set with electronic speedo and they are pretty nice.  Much easier to read than the original gauges.

I've also changed out the rear center section.  I went with a TracLoc with 3.70 gears.  That change definitely changed the way the car feels.  Also added some traction bars and got my kickdown for the C4 working.

Hopefully i'll get it out to the track this year and see how it runs.
