MATHEWS COUNTY RIDE

Mathews County is one of the rare jewels for bicyclists; the roads are very lightly traveled, yet extremely scenic. We're right on the edge of Mobjack and Chesapeake Bays. We're looking at about 20 - 25 miles today. Of course there are a couple of wonderful restaurants and diners in town, along with a refurbished soda fountain.

DIRECTIONS: I-64 to RT. 17 (towards Yorktown). Remain on Rt. 17 and cross the COLEMAN BRIDGE. (Stop at the bottom of the bridge and give the nice man or woman some money for the toll for allowing you to drive across their bridge. Isn't it a NICE bridge?)

Continue on Rt. 17 for approx. 15 miles, until you see the signs on the RIGHT for GLOUCESTER ( Routes. 3 / 14). Follow 3-14: in about 6 or 7 miles, Route 3 turns left - REMAIN on Route 14 towards Mathews.

At Stop Light, turn RIGHT. School is straight ahead (about 1 mile) on LEFT.
