MOUNTAIN BIKE RIDES

Despite being as flat as it is, we are so fortunate to live in an area that has an abundance of fun and challenging mountain biking trails.

In addition, there is some AWESOME riding only a few hours away in the Blue Ridge and Shenandoah mountains.

Most of the closest rides are located on the Peninsula in Newport News, Yorktown, and Williamsburg, although there are also some fun trails in Virginia Beach.

Some of the trails include:

Harwood Mill in Newport News

Waller Mill in Williamsburg (Currently Closed due to damage from Hurricane Isabel - expected to reopen in 2005 - NOTE - DO NOT RIDE ILLEGALLY - YOUR BIKE WILL BE CONFISCATED AND YOU WILL GET A TICKET )

York River State Park in York County

First Landing Park in Virginia Beach

Freedom Trail in James City County (New - 2003)

New Quarter Trail - Williamsburg (New - 2004)

PLEASE NOTE: Severe damage has occurred to several of the trails as a result of Hurricane Isabel.  Waller Mill trails are not expected to reopen to mountain bikers until 2005. Repair efforts are being coordinated through Eastern Virginia Mountain Biking Association (EVMA) Please consider providing some volunteer effort with this group in order to expedite the repair and reopening of these magnificent riding trails. Contact EVMA at  www.evma.org.
