WELCOME TO MY MUSIC PAGE
Hope you enjoy!

Once upon a time, a long time ago, my father wanted me to become a music teacher. While that never happened, I still have a love for music and would like to share these "samples" with you.

AMERICANA

Stars & Stripes Forever
Over one hundred years ago, John Philip Sousa introduced "The Stars and Stripes Forever" at a concert in Philadelphia. A century later Americans still thrill to Sousa's march. A music critic for the New York Times said in 1978, "There are those who will say that The Stars and Stripes Forever is the greatest piece ever written by an American composer". An old friend of my father's, "Pat" Patton played in Sousa's band as a young man. Although retired, he often conducted the "city" band in open air concerts in the park during the summer when I was in high school. What fun! What memories!!!

BIG BANDS

Stardust

Who can forget the "Big Band" era. I have fond memories of seeing Tommy and Jimmy Dorsey, Duke Ellington, Count Bassie and others at the "Blue Moon" and the Orpheum Theatre in Wichita, Kansas.
