RSD Alumni Shine in College Meets

Tom Koucheravy — Kouch is in this sophomore year at GMU and setting all kinds of records. Earned CAA Rookie of the Year honors in swimming...won the 1,650 free at the CAA Championships in a Mason freshman record-setting time of 15:38.99...placed second at CAA's in the 500 free with a school freshman record time of 4:33.08...finished 15th in the 200 free (1:45.66) at the conference championships...set another freshman school record in the 1,000 free at the CAA Championships with a time of 9:28.90...named to the AD's Honor Roll spring semester.

Kouch is off to another great year swimming a 4:35:31 in the 500 free in the most recent dual meet, and making semi-finals in Senior Nationals this summer. Congrats, Kouch!

Pat Laiti — Pat is training hard at JMU and also off to a great start. He swam a 1:02.18 in the 100 breast at during the most recent dual meet — making him a top breast stroker for JMU his freshman year.

Tyler Marriott — Tyler is a freshman at the University of Alabama. Go Crimson Tide. He played soccer at Alabama in the fall and although the season ended recently he continues his involvement with the sport as a JV coach for a high school in Tuscaloosa. He would love to be swimming, but since UA has two Olympic breastrokers (both Sophomores and both under 54.5 in the 100!!) walking on wasn't an option.

Erin Mealy — A freshman at Vermont, Erin is already contributing to the team as their fastest swimmer in the 100 and 200 breast. At the most recent meet, Erin swam 1:11.36 in the 100 breast and 2:31.84 in the 200 breast.

BURLINGTON, Vt. - Freshman Channel Hamilton (Willingboro, N.J.) of the women's track & field team, freshman Erin Mealy (Clifton, Va.) of the women's swimming and diving squad and men's track & field sophomore Sean Steinhagen (Portland, Maine) were named the Vermont Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of November 29th through December 5th.

Mealy posted two strong performances with her best times of the season in both the 100 breaststroke (1:10.04) and 200 breaststroke (2:33.14). She won the 100 breaststroke to lead the Catamounts, who swept the top three spots in the event, and also took a second place in the 200 versus Wagner on Saturday.

Erin Tarpey — Coach Skinner reports that Erin returns as the top sprint/flyer and a factor in the relays. In recent meets Erin contributed to times in both the 200 Free and 200 Medley relays and swam a 1:00.86 in the 100 fly.

Patrick Sanders is swimming for Colby College, but their web site doesn't provide results or bios.
