This Corvair powered kit car is a Fiberfab Avenger
made in the late '60s and early '70s. These beautiful bodies covered powerplants from VW Bug to Detroit V-8s.
A 164 cubic inch 110 horsepower Corvair powers this car. A Corvair Transaxle and fully independent half shafts are mated to a
'66 or later VW Bug floorpan. The red Avenger was first built as a show car, the suspension is all chrome and the floorpan is painted and pinstriped
It arrived with B60 15 and G60 15 petrified polyglas tires on eight and ten inch Ansen Sprint slotted wheels. Once the old tires
were pried off the rims and replaced with 195-60 and 235-60 radials, the ride improved greatly.

Afer his red Corvair Corsa spent some time on jackstands, Norm Witte created
Group Red for Corvairs nationwide spending time on jackstands. I submitted
this photo of the Avenger while it was on stands for some differential reseal work. Norm's response after viewing the photo . .
"Now that's cool."

With a total weight of only 1600 pounds the Avenger is pretty responsive even with the 110 hp Corvair powerplant. The
driving positions is very "laid back" and much to my suprise the driver can see out thru the back window.
