My Ham Radio Page
Well, after a bit of bugging and pushing from my father, I have given in and have
gotten into the ham radio hobby. I have gotten my ticket, and it is KD7YZW.
I am only a Tech but that doesn't mean you can't do anything. I have a 2 Meter
ground plane antenna mounted about 20' off the ground, and a 6 Meter Inverted V
mounted on the same mast to save antenna space. My present station consists of a
Astron SS-30M power supply, an Icom 706MKIIG, and an Icom IC-V8 2 Meter HT.
My dad is in the process of building me an HF tri-band wire antenna. I know, you
are screaming that I can not transmitt on HF since I am only a Tech and you are
correct. The reason for the HF antenna is so I can listen in on HF and hear who
all is out there, and also to listen to the ARRL code practice sessions so I will
be able to pass the code requirement so I can get HF privliges.
I am not going to post any links regarding HAM radio for the simple reason there
so many websites out there now with a massive set of links. If you want to know
more, go to Google and do a search for HAM radio.
