Water Drain Project for RV

Some of the main parts needed, The valve came from Camping World , the rest of the parts form Home Depot. Step One make backing plate -Drill One 5/8 inch hole and use the valve as a template to layout the mounting holes , drill Two 1/8" holes. This plate will help stiffen around where the valve will be mounted and also aid in mounting. I used aluminum to make this one.

Backing Plate looks like this, you may have to file the large hole some, to make it easy to slip over hose. Slip hose clamp on hose, and slip backing plate on hose

Drill 5/8 hole in location you want valve, Locate valve as low on the side as possible. Mark for mounting holes and drill 1/8" holes

Remove screws on siding to gain access to the back side of the siding.  push hose thru hole and Install valve on hose, then push the valve flush with the side.

install hose clamp on valve, slide the backing plate and clamp over the valve fitting.  Mount valve with two 1/4" sheet metal screws to backing plate . align the valve and backing plate and screw in place , do not over tighten ,just snug is all you need.

clamp hose in place, using four cable clamps and existing screws attach hose to underside Tie wrap hose to angle iron  (note the hose go's thru the channel that supports the spare tire)

Cut tubing to length & install on drain with hose clamp. Clamp hose on drain , fill water tank.

This is what I did to the fresh water drain on my Challenger, It took longer to document what I did then it took to actually do the job, this project cost less then  $10.00 and less then two hours to install everything.

You can make this as elaborate or as simple as you like, this is what I did, I hope you find this useful

I hope this is of some help. I will try and keep you posted on all my other handy hints along the way,

Ray
