Dear Western Branch Band Parent:

We’re pleased to share some exciting news about a new fundraising program for our organization.  It’s called “scrip”, and it’s the fundraising program that works while you shop. This is a year around fundraiser. You can place your order online & anytime.

Scrip is simply a word that means “substitute money” – in other words, scrip is gift certificates from national and local retailers.  They’re the same gift certificates that you buy at the store.  Many popular retailers participate in our scrip program including JCPenney, The Gap, Shell, Pizza Hut, Red Lobster and many, many others. 

You’re probably asking yourself how these stores help us raise money.  It’s simple -- scrip participating retailers agree to sell gift certificates to our organization at a discount.  Member families like yours buy the certificates for full face value, they redeem them for full face value, and our band keeps the difference as revenue.  And scrip is exciting, because everybody wins:

·          The retailer gets cash up front and repeat business…

·          You get a powerful fundraising alternative that involves no selling…

·          Our band gets a regular source of revenue.

The beauty of scrip is that you put your regular household shopping dollars to work. You earn money for our school without spending a single additional penny.  Just spend your regular shopping dollars with scrip at the stores that participate in the scrip program!  And scrip can be used for just about any household purchase including food, clothing, entertainment, gasoline and even dining out.

These gift cards are not just for giving.  Please buy these cards on a regular basis to purchase your every day items.   If you use a scrip card to purchase your gas, food, clothing, entertainment and even trips with you are paying the same amount of money, but our band is getting rebate money with each of your purchases.

  I will place all the orders from WBBBPA on a bimonthly basis. I will check the Shop with Scrip web site for any orders on Wed. evening by 9:00 PM. I will then send in all the individual orders as one big order to Great Lakes Scrip Center on Thursday mornings. For every order we place as a whole, there is a $7.50 shipping & handling charge from Great Lakes Scrip Center. Everyone who places an order is asked to add a $1.00 to your order total to help defray the $7.50 shipping & handling. Please make your checks out to WBBPA. Or pay with PrestoPay.  If we do not have enough orders to make up the shipping & handling charge, we will wait until the next Thursday in hopes of having more orders.  I will be placing orders on a weekly basis around the Holiday Season.  I will collect your money from you when your order is delivered.  Your cards will not be release without payment. I will send out an e-mail when the orders are in and tell you when & where you can pick your orders up.

The Western Branch Band Parent Association scrip program promises to be a simple and effective fundraising program.
