Hezekiah K. Davis

Born 1835 in Tennessee and was a farmer (married) living near Cockrums Cross Roads in DeSoto Co., Mississippi when he enlisted as a private in Co. C, 42nd Reg't Mississippi Vols.on May 14, 1862 at Grenada,
Mississippi.

He was captured at Gettysburg on July 3, 1863 and died a prisoner on November 3, 1863 from diphtheria at Fort Delaware, Delaware and was buried at the National Cemetery at Finn's Point (on Jersey Shore, opposite post), New Jersey on November 9, 1863.

On the Regimental records of the 42nd dated: Near
Petersburg, Va., March 20, 1865 is the remark " H. K. Davis was a good soldier."
