DAR Service for Veterans

DAR members and volunteers sew items needed by facilities, including wheelchair bags, trachea bags, bibs, lap robes, and tote bags. Personal care items, magazines, games, puzzles, and other gifts are collected by this committee for delivery to facilities. Last year the committee drove 671 miles, and donated cash in the amount of $6,620 and $2,700 in donated items.  Our members have been instrumental in obtaining two grants for use at the Veterans Hospital in La Jolla.

The committee traveled to the VA Medical Center in La Jolla to deliver purchased items for the veterans.  The group toured the Spinal Cord Injury Center and the Stroke Patients Center.  The committee chairman presented a check for $380 to the Stroke Center.

The committee is hard at work planning for the next delivery to the hospital.
