VA SAN DIEGO HEALTHCARE
VOLUNTARY SERVICE NEEDS LIST

The VA San Diego Healthcare System does not solicit for donations, nor do we allow the name of the VA to be used in solicitations through other organizations.  However, for those organizations or individuals who inquire as to our needs, the following is a list you can use as a guide for our special needs, program support and/or equipment.  None of these items are available through our normal budget.

A.                 Patient Clothing
1.  Pants                       Waist Size 30, 32, 34, 36 average length
2.  Shirts                       Casual Size:  M, L, XL, 2X
3.  T-Shirts                   XL and up
4.  Shoes                      Size:  8 ½ - 1
5.  Socks                      Mens, white

B.                 Patient Comfort Items Individual size:  (No Glass Bottles please)
1.      Disposable Safety Razors
2.      Alcohol-free Shampoo & Conditioner
3.      Alcohol-free Lotion
4.      Alcohol-free Deodorant
5.      Combs
6.     Toothbrush
7.      Toothpaste
8.      Shaving cream/gel
9.      Talc powder w/cornstarch
10.  Reading glasses

C.                 Other items
1.      Yarn
2.      Audio books (CDs)
3.      Movies (DVDs)
4.      DVD Players
5.      Phone Cards
6.      Wheelchair bags
7.      Lap Robes 50 x 60
8.      Magazines (current within the last 4 months)
9.      Crossword puzzle books (regular and large print)
10. Colors (8 in pack) and color books for children in Waiting Rooms
11.  Subscriptions to childrens magazines

D.                 Funds for following projects
1.  Coffee supplies
2.     Bus tokens for the following programs:
     a.       Emergency social work fund
     b.      ADTP (Alcohol Drug Therapy Program)
     c.       Homeless Program
     d.      To provide haircuts for inpatients
     e.       Emergency fund for returning OIF/OEF military
3.      Patient recreational outings
4.      Music Wellness Program
5.      Player/Recorder for Visually impaired veterans

E.         National Events:
1.      Veterans Art Festival
2.      National Veterans Wheelchair Games
3.      Veterans Golden Age Games
4.      Winter Sports Clinic
Monetary donations can be made to the VA San Diego Health System.  Please earmark your donation by indicating in the lower left corner of your check, the intent of your donation.
