Madame State Regent:
Our chapter continues to pursue “community money” to support our veterans’ projects.  A $1,000 grant was received from Wal-Mart and was presented to the VA Medical Center in La Jolla, which enabled the Center to purchase an articulated model of the whole heart to inform patients of prognosis and surgical outcomes.  In addition they purchased educational DVD’s that explain various medical procedures.  The chapter prepared and served a dinner to the Marines at Camp Pendleton’s Wounded Warrior Center.  Several of our members participated in the Wreaths Across America ceremony.  Because of the need for a C.A.R. Society in North San Diego County, Jeannette Shiel has organized the Red, White and Blue Society with Rancho Buena Vista as the sponsor.  Two members are teaching numerous genealogy and lineage classes at two OASIS Centers and the Carlsbad Library.  We support the San Marcos Kiwanis Club Flag Retirement Ceremony every June.  Promoting community awareness of DAR and Rancho Buena Vista Chapter, in particular, is our important goal.
