Some white (which is hard to define against the merle silver that borders it) on chest and tips of 3 feet

His split face seemed so tribal, there seemed to be a magical spiritual power behind it.

I knew  that if I were to give him an Old West name, which is traditional for this breed,

it needed to be an Indian name rather than a cowboy one. 

A name that would capture mystism.  After I little thought on the matter, it hit me -

something, as a ring or stone, bearing engraved figures or symbols thought to bring good luck, keep away evil, to confer protection, etc.

anything thought to have magic power; a charm or amulet

anything whose presence exercises a remarkable or powerful influence on human feelings or actions.

sports usage: the one who leads the team to victory

 

Engravings = merle patterns,

Could definitely use good luck with him

hopefully the powerful influence extends to livestock

And this is my third Aussie, and as everybody should know "the third one's a charm"

Sounds perfect to me.

 

Island, of course, refers to me (DeLisle = “Of the Island”  [more figuratively “Islander”] in French = “Vom Insel” in German).
