John has even worked, part-time, as a stand up comedian, performing professionally in Providence and Boston. For 4 years, John hosted the Friday night comedy revue at Chan’s in Woonsocket, Rhode Island.

In 1973, John achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America, spending summers as a camp councilor at the Buck Hill Scout Reservation in Northern Rhode Island.
