Congressman Patrick Kennedy Biggest Spender in RI
Ranking by Non-Partisan Taxpayers Union
WARWICK, RI – “Spending in Congress is out of control,” said, State
GOP Chairman Giovanni Cicione “and according to the non-partisan National
Taxpayers Union, Patrick Kennedy is a big part of the problem.”
The non-profit group, National Taxpayer’s Union released its comprehensive list
of Congress’ Biggest Spenders. The listing includes both a numerical and letter
grade and is based on every roll call vote affecting tax, spending, and regulatory
issues. The total was based on 286 votes – 182 in the House and 104 in the Senate
-- in the second session of the 110th Congress (all of 2008).
While the entire Rhode Island democrat delegation scored a ranking of F, Congressman
Kennedy’s score was the lowest in Rhode Island.
“Clearly Congressman Kennedy thinks he can continue to spend our money without
any scrutiny or accountability,” said Cicione, “these are bills that we all have
to pay for generations to come.”
