Lesson 1
Dispensation of Innocence

Adam and Eve created in Innocence

The first chapter of Genesis tells us about the six days of creation and what was created on each day. In chapter two we are given the details of the events that took place on the sixth day of creation.

  1. Genesis 2:7 God formed man and he became a living soul.
  2. Genesis 2:8 God planted a garden eastward in Eden.
  3. Genesis 2:8-15 God placed the man whom he had formed in the garden to dress it and keep it.
  4. Genesis 2:17 God commanded the man not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God gave the man free will to choose his destiny. He could obey God and live forever or disobey God and die.
  5. Genesis 2:18-25 God made a woman using a rib which he had taken from Adam.

The Fall of Man

Genesis 3:1-5 The Serpent (Satan) convinced Eve that she would not die if she ate the forbidden fruit. He convinced her that the only reason God didn't want her to eat this fruit is so that she would not become as a god knowing good and evil.

Genesis 3:6 Both woman and man eat of the forbidden fruit. The thing I find interesting here is that the man was with the woman and never tried to stop her from eating the fruit. As a matter of fact the man ate the fruit also when the woman gave it to him.

Genesis 3:7-8Adam and Eve hide themselves. Instead of seeing the great things that Satan had promised, they only felt guilty and ashamed because they were naked.

Genesis 3:9 The Lord called unto Adam.

Genesis 3:10 Adam said, "I was afraid, because I was naked; and hid myself". Here is the first sign of conscience that lets people know when they have done wrong.

Innocence Ends in Judgment

Three curses were given because of the fall of man.

  1. Genesis 3:14-15 The serpent receives the first curse.
  2. Genesis 3:16 The woman receives the second curse.
  3. Genesis 3:17-19 Adam receives the third curse.

The Judgment on the First Dispensation.

Genesis 3:23-24 Man was cast out of the garden of Eden and had no more access to the tree of life.
