The Parable of The Ten Virgins

Matthew 25:1-13
1. Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4. But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
5. While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept.
6. And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.
7. Then all those virgins arose, and trimmed their lamps.
8. And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out.
9. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves.
10. And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came; and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage: and the door was shut.
11. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us.
12. But he answered and said, verily I say unto you, I know you not.
13. Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

The Parable of the Ten Virgins

  1. Matthew 25:1-3

The foolish Christian starts out with a brightly burning light (This light is Christ in his life) but he fails to refill his vessel (The vessel is his soul) with oil (the oil is the Holy Ghost). When the darkness of a Trial comes his way, he has nothing with which to keep his light shining.

  2. Matthew 25:4

The wise Christian prays often and keeps his vessel (his soul) full of oil (the Holy Ghost). When the darkness of a trial comes his way, the flame of his light (Christ in his life) will continue to burn brightly.

  3. Matthew 25:5

While the Bridegroom (Jesus) tarried, they all (The Church during the Dark Ages) slumbered and slept.

  4. Matthew 25:6

It is now the Midnight of our dispensation and a cry is being made by our watchmen (Pastors, Evangelists, Teachers), Behold, The Bridegroom (Jesus) cometh; go ye out to meet him.

  5. Matthew 25:7

Are we going to arise and trim our lamps? Are we going to wake up and prepare ourselves to meet Jesus?

  6. Matthew 25:8

Will we be like the foolish virgins? Will we wake up only to find that we don't have enough oil (Holy Ghost) to see us through our next trial? Will we try to live on the prayers of our friends who have the Holy Ghost?

  7. Matthew 25:9

There is no person on this earth that can give you the Holy Ghost or even an experience with God. You must buy it yourself through repentance and prayer.

  8. Matthew 25:10

When Jesus comes for his Church, will we be trying to find that which we should already have while our brothers and sisters go with him to the Marriage Supper?

  9. Matthew 25:11-12

Will we then, come finding the door shut, saying Lord, Lord, open to us? Will we hear the answer, Verily I say unto you, I know you not.

  10. Luke 13:24-28

Don't be lukewarm and come to God too late finding the door shut saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. Once the door is shut no man can open it. You will have your own words condemning you when you say that you have eaten and drunk in his presence and have heard his word taught. He will call you a worker of iniquity because you did not heed his teachings and warnings.

  11. Matthew 24:42-44, Matthew 25:13

We don't know the day or hour when Jesus will come again, but we do know that it could be any time now. This is the midnight hour of our dispensation. We must be ready and waiting.
