elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiaphas,

7. There came unto him a woman having an alabaster box of very precious
ointment, and poured it on his head, as he sat at meat.
8. But when his disciples saw it, they had indignation, saying, To what
purpose is this waste?
9. For this ointment might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.
10. When Jesus understood it, he said unto them, Why trouble ye the
woman? for she hath wrought a good work upon me.
11. For ye have the poor always with you; but me ye have not always.
12. For in that she hath poured this ointment on my body, she did it
for my burial.
13. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached in
the whole world, there shall also this, that this woman hath done, be told for a
memorial of her.

and she brake the box, and poured it on his head.
4. And there were some that had indignation within themselves, and said,
Why was this waste of the ointment made?
5. For it might have been sold for more than three hundred pence, and have
been given to the poor. And they murmured against her.
6. And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a
good work on me.
7. For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may
do them good: but me ye have not always.
8. She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body
to the burying.
9. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout
the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial

with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and
anointed them with the ointment.

himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what

And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.
44. And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman?
I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed
my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.
45. Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not
ceased to kiss my feet.
46. My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my
feet with ointment.
47. Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she
loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.
48. And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.
49. And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is
this that forgiveth sins also?

build it in three days.

unto them: behold, they know what I said.
22. And when he had thus spoken, one of the officers which stood by struck
Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, Answerest thou the high priest so?

well, why smitest thou me?

And he went out into the porch; and the cock crew.
69. And a maid saw him again, and began to say to them that stood by, This
is one of them.
70. And he denied it again. And a little after, they that stood by said again to
Peter, Surely thou art one of them: for thou art a Galilaean, and thy speech agreeth
thereto.
71. But he began to curse and to swear, saying, I know not this man of whom
ye speak.

when he thought thereon, he wept.

upon him, and said, This man was also with him.
57. And he denied him, saying, Woman, I know him not.
58. And after a little while another saw him, and said, Thou art also of them.
And Peter said, Man, I am not.
59. And about the space of one hour after another confidently affirmed, saying,
Of a truth this fellow also was with him: for he is a Galilaean.
60. And Peter said, Man, I know not what thou sayest. And immediately,
while he yet spake, the cock crew.

the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt
deny me thrice.

was known unto the high priest, and spake unto her that kept the door, and brought
in Peter.
17. Then saith the damsel that kept the door unto Peter, Art not thou also one
of this man's disciples? He saith, I am not.

himself.

repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,

What is that to us? see thou to that.
5. And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and
hanged himself.

them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood.

answered him and said, Thou sayest it.

see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to

Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ?
18. For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.
19. When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him,
saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things
this day in a dream because of him.
20. But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should
ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus.
21. The governor answered and said unto them, Whether of the twain will ye
that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas.

Barabbas unto them.

shall do unto him whom ye call the King of the Jews?

man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:
15. No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is
done unto him.
16. I will therefore chastise him, and release him.
17. (For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)
18. And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto
us Barabbas:
19. (Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into
prison.)
20. Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.
21. But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.

reed in his right hand: and they bowed the knee before him, and mocked him, saying,
Hail, King of the Jews!
30. And they spit upon him, and took the reed, and smote him on the head.

put his own raiment on him, and led him away to crucify him.

bowing their knees worshipped him.

put his own clothes on him, and led him out to crucify him.

they compelled to bear his cross.

place of a skull,
34. They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted
thereof, he would not drink.
35. And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might
be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them,
and upon my vesture did they cast lots.
36. And sitting down they watched him there;
37. And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE
KING OF THE JEWS.
38. Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and
another on the left.
39. And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,
40. And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,
save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.
41. Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders,
said,
42. He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him
now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
43. He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said,
I am the Son of God.
44. The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.
- Mark 15:21-32(KJV)

The place of a skull.
23. And they gave him to drink wine mingled with myrrh: but he received it not.
24. And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots
upon them, what every man should take.
25. And it was the third hour, and they crucified him.
26. And the superscription of his accusation was written over, THE KING OF
THE JEWS.
27. And with him they crucify two thieves; the one on his right hand, and the
other on his left.
28. And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the
transgressors.
29. And they that passed by railed on him, wagging their heads, and saying,
Ah, thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days,
30. Save thyself, and come down from the cross.
31. Likewise also the chief priests mocking said among themselves with the
scribes, He saved others; himself he cannot save.

and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.
- Luke 23:32-43(KJV)

they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
35. And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him,
saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
36. And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
37. And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
38. And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin,
and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
39. And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou
be Christ, save thyself and us.
40. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing
thou art in the same condemnation?

Jesus in the midst.
19. And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was, JESUS
OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.
20. This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified
was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.
21. Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the
Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.

23. Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made
four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam,
woven from the top throughout.
24. They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it,
whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment
among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers
did.

- Matthew 27:45-56 (KJV)
45. Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the
ninth hour.
46. And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli,
lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
47. Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man
calleth for Elias.
48. And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with
vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
49. The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.
50. Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.
51. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the
bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;
52. And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,
53. And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city,
and appeared unto many.
54. Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus,
saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying,
Truly this was the Son of God.
55. And many women were there beholding afar off, which followed Jesus
from Galilee, ministering unto him:
56. Among which was Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and
Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's children.
- Mark 15:33-41(KJV)
33. And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land
until the ninth hour.
34. And at the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eloi, Eloi, lama
sabachthani? which is, being interpreted, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
35. And some of them that stood by, when they heard it, said, Behold, he
calleth Elias.
36. And one ran and filled a spunge full of vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave
him to drink, saying, Let alone; let us see whether Elias will come to take him down.
37. And Jesus cried with a loud voice, and gave up the ghost.
38. And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.
39. And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried
out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.
40. There were also women looking on afar off: among whom was Mary
Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James the less and of Joses, and Salome;
41. (Who also, when he was in Galilee, followed him, and ministered unto him;)
and many other women which came up with him unto Jerusalem.
- Luke 23:44-49(KJV)
44. And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth
until the ninth hour.
45. And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
46. And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands
I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
47. Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying,
Certainly this was a righteous man.
48. And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things
which were done, smote their breasts, and returned
49. And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee,
stood afar off, beholding these things.

57. When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named
Joseph, who also himself was Jesus' disciple:
58. He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded
the body to be delivered.
59. And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
60. And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he
rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.
61. And there was Mary Magdalene, and the other Mary, sitting over against
the sepulchre.
- Mark 15:42-47(KJV)
42. And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is,
the day before the sabbath,
43. Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the
kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.
44. And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the
centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.
45. And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.
46. And he bought fine linen, and took him down, and wrapped him in the linen,
and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the
door of the sepulchre.
47. And Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of Joses beheld where he was
laid.
- Luke 23:50-56(KJV)
50. And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a
good man, and a just:
51. (The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of
Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.
52. This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.
53. And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that
was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.
54. And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.
55. And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and
beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.
56. And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the
sabbath day according to the commandment.
- John 19:38-42(KJV)
38. And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly
for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and
Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.
39. And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night,
and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
40. Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the
spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.
41. Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the
garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid.
42. There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews' preparation day; for
the sepulchre was nigh at hand.
- The Guard at the Tomb.

and Pharisees came together unto Pilate,
63. Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive,
After three days I will rise again.
64. Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest
his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen
from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.
65. Pilate said unto them, Ye have a watch: go your way, make it as sure as
ye can.
66. So they went, and made the sepulchre sure, sealing the stone, and setting
a watch.
- The Resurrection of Jesus.

descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and
sat upon it.
3. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:
4. And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.
5. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know
that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.
6. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the
Lord lay.
7. And go quickly, and tell his disciples that he is risen from the dead; and,
behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him: lo, I have told you.
8. And they departed quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy; and
did run to bring his disciples word.
9. And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail.
And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him.
10. Then said Jesus unto them, Be not afraid: go tell my brethren that they go
into Galilee, and there shall they see me.
- Mark 16:1-8(KJV)

of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.

sepulchre at the rising of the sun.
3. And they said among themselves, Who shall roll us away the stone from the
door of the sepulchre?
4. And when they looked, they saw that the stone was rolled away: for it was
very great.
5. And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right
side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.
6. And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which
was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.
7. But go your way, tell his disciples and Peter that he goeth before you into
Galilee: there shall ye see him, as he said unto you
8. And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre; for they trembled
and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid.
- Luke 24:1-10

the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
2. And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
3. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
4. And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two
men stood by them in shining garments:
5. And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said
unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
6. He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was
yet in Galilee,
7. Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and
be crucified, and the third day rise again.
8. And they remembered his words,
9. And returned from the sepulchre, and told all these things unto the eleven,

14. And if this come to the governor's ears, we will persuade him, and secure you.
15. So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is
commonly reported among the Jews until this day.

13. And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village called Emmaus,
which was from Jerusalem about threescore furlongs.
14. And they talked together of all these things which had happened.
15. And it came to pass, that, while they communed together and reasoned,
Jesus himself drew near, and went with them.
16. But their eyes were holden that they should not know him.
17. And he said unto them, What manner of communications are these that ye
have one to another, as ye walk, and are sad?
18. And the one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answering said unto him,
Art thou only a stranger in Jerusalem, and hast not known the things which are come
to pass there in these days?
19. And he said unto them, What things? And they said unto him, Concerning
Jesus of Nazareth, which was a prophet mighty in deed and word before God and all
the people:
20. And how the chief priests and our rulers delivered him to be condemned to
death, and have crucified him.
21. But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and
beside all this, to day is the third day since these things were done.

were early at the sepulchre;
23. And when they found not his body, they came, saying, that they had also seen
a vision of angels, which said that he was alive.
24. And certain of them which were with us went to the sepulchre, and found it
even so as the women had said: but him they saw not.
25. Then he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart to believe all that the
prophets have spoken:
26. Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?
27. And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he expounded unto them in
all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
28. And they drew nigh unto the village, whither they went: and he made as though
he would have gone further.
29. But they constrained him, saying, Abide with us: for it is toward evening, and
the day is far spent. And he went in to tarry with them.
30. And it came to pass, as he sat at meat with them, he took bread, and blessed
it, and brake, and gave to them
31. And their eyes were opened, and they knew him; and he vanished out of
their sight.
32. And they said one to another, Did not our heart burn within us, while he
talked with us by the way, and while he opened to us the scriptures?
33. And they rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem, and found the
eleven gathered together, and them that were with them,

38. And he said unto them, Why are ye troubled? and why do thoughts arise in
your hearts?
39. Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a
spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
40. And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet.
41. And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them,
Have ye here any meat?
42. And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb.
43. And he took it, and did eat before them.
44. And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while
I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of
Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.
45. Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
46. And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer,
and to rise from the dead the third day:
47. And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name
among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
26. And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them:
then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be
unto you.

and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.

believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
30. And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which

of God; and that believing ye might have life through his name.

Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?
