Politics and ReligionPray for all that are in authorityNowhere in the scriptures does it say to run down the President or any of his cabinet or family. The scriptures do say that we are to pray for them and all that are in authority. You will find that after running them down for a while you will have so many bad feelings about them that you won't be able to pray for them. We cannot be the judge of our leaders. We must support them, pray for them, and let God be their judge. We cannot be involved in demonstrations and riots. We must lead a quiet and peacable life in all godliness and honesty. We must be witnesses of Christ to those around us and avoid bringing political division into the church.
Keep the right attitude.Talking negative about public officials brings in a wrong spirit. When preachers talk negative about our government officials it causes the people of their congregation to think negative about them. We don't need to be running our leaders down. We need to pray for them. After all, they need salvation as much as anyone else. We must also keep in mind that if God could make Pharaoh release the children of Israel from bondage, he can also cause our leaders to do the right thing. The political system of this country is not the answer for the world. Some people think that if we just had a good president that it would solve all our problems. Being involved in politics is not the answer because we are living in the end times and this system is going to fail. We don't need to be involved in spreading political dirt and causing political division in the church. We need to be involved in prayer and soulwinning. Our main goal should be getting more people ready for the rapture instead of trying to tear down some politician that we don't like. As a matter of fact, we should be praying for that politician and trying to turn him into a believer and save his soul through our witness and prayers. Politics should not be discussed inside the church. Voting is our duty and responsibility but the church should be Apostolic and not promote Republican, Democrat, or any other political party. We get to discussing politics and our leaders and we get all upset over who they are, what they are, what they are doing, or are not doing and we miss the point of why we are here. We are to be witnesses and winning souls to Jesus but we keep getting sidetracked into talking about politics, running down our leaders, and blaming the politicians for everything that is going wrong. We need to pray for our leaders and and be witnesses for Christ.
We should not be concerned about what the president's policy is about the gays or how many gay politicians there are. Our main concerne should be witnessing to the lost to win souls for Christ and to pray for our leaders that God will guide them to do the right things. After all, Moses prayed and God forced Pharaoah to do the right thing. Do we have such little faith that we think that God is not able to cause our leaders to do the right things ? The church should be Apostolic and neither Republican nor Democrat. Nor should we be Liberal or Conservative. We should be Apostolic which is different from all of them. If we have preachers in the pulpit telling people how to vote then we are doing away with the very system that we claim to prize so much. We must make up our own minds about who we will vote for and leave politics out of the church. The church is for saving souls and not for running the country. If I told you how to vote or allowed you to tell me how to vote then we would no longer have a democracy. When we start running everyone and everything down all the time we very soon find that we have stopped praying like we should. The worse we feel about someone the less likely we are to pray for them and the less we pray the harder it is to pray. We need to stop running down our leaders and start praying for God to guide them and lead them into doing the right things. Pray that God would even guide them to see and believe the truth and be saved.
