The Temple of God
We are the Temple of God
The Holy Scriptures tell us that we are the Temple of God,
the dwelling place of the Holy Ghost.
- I Corinthians 3:16-17
Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? If any man
defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.
- I Corinthians 6:19-20
What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have
of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and
in your spirit, which are God's.
How do we keep the Temple holy?
The following Holy Scriptures instruct us in
how to keep the temple holy.
- I Peter 2:9-17
But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should
shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time
past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have
obtained mercy. Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which
war against the soul; Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against
you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.
Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; Or
unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them
that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God. Honour all men.
Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.
- II Peter 2:9-10
The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day
of judgment to be punished: But chiefly them that walk after the flesh in the lust of uncleanness, and despise
government. Presumptuous are they, selfwilled, they are not afraid to speak evil of dignities.
- I Timothy 2:8
I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
