Jesus and the Apostles
- Jesus opened the understanding of his apostles and instructed them to preach repentance and remission
of sins in his name. They were to start at Jerusalem and then go into all the world.
Luke 24:45-48
Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, And said unto them,
Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that
repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
And ye are witnesses of these things.
- Jesus did not go anywhere else in the world but went to heaven to prepare a place for us.
John 14:2-3
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a
place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that
where I am, there ye may be also.
- Jesus did not send another testament to anyone else but sent his apostles to teach the rest of the world the
things that he had taught them.
John 20:21
Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.
Matthew 28:18-20
And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go
ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway,
even unto the end of the world. Amen.
- Paul was the Apostle that was sent to the Gentiles to teach them.
Acts 9:10-16
And there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias; and to him said the Lord in a vision, Ananias. And he said, Behold, I am here, Lord.. And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the street
which is called straight, and enquire in the house of Judas for one called Saul, of Tarsus: for behold, he prayeth.
And hath seen in a vision a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hand on him, that he might receive
his sight. Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard of many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy
saints at Jerusalem: And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that call on thy name. But the
Lord said unto him, Go thy way: for he is a chosen vessel unto me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and
kings, and the children of Israel: For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake.
Acts 28:28-31
Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will
hear it. And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.
And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him, Preaching
the kingdom of God, and teaching those things which concern the Lord Jesus Christ, with all confidence, no
man forbidding him.
- Here we see again that everything was to go to the Jew first and then to the Gentile.
Romans 2:8-11
But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and
wrath, Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For
there is no respect of persons with God.
Not another Gospel
- The Apostles were to spread the Gospel that Jesus taught them. Anyone else or even an angel from heaven
that would preach any other gospel was to be accursed.
Galatians 1:8-9
But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have
preached unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other
gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
- We see that even Satan himself can be transformed into an angel of light to try and spread a false gospel
and doctrine.
II Corinthians 11:12-15
But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein
they glory, they may be found even as we. For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming
themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end
shall be according to their works.
Warning
- Before adding another testament (The Book Of Mormon) to the Holy Scriptures, you should consider the
warnings given by God concerning adding to or taking away from His Word.
Deuteronomy 4:2
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye
may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.
Revelation 22:18-19
For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add
unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take
away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and
out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
