Baptism
In The Name Of The Father, Son & Holy Ghost
— or —
In The Name Of Jesus Christ
Which of These Were Practiced By the Apostles in the Early Church?
Below are the scriptures where
the apostles either taught or practiced
water baptism in the name of Jesus.
- JEWS — "Repent & be baptized everyone of you in the name of Jesus Christ."
(Acts 2:38)
- SAMARITANS — They were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. (Acts 8:16)
- GENTILES — He commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord
Jesus. (Acts 10:48)
- EPHESIANS — Paul rebaptized them in the name of the Lord Jesus.
(Acts 19:3-5)
- PETER TAUGHT — There is none other name given whereby we must be saved.
(Acts 4:12)
- PAUL TAUGHT — Whatever you do, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.
(Col. 3:17)
I Challenge you to find any scripture
that shows a baptism using the titles
"Father, Son, and Holy Ghost".
- Pastors, surely this shouldn't be hard for you as most of you baptize using these words.
If by chance you can't find a New Testament example for the way you baptize, I suggest you have an
explanation ready for your people.
- Please do not bother to offer Matthew 28:19 as an example. No one was baptized here.
This was a commission given personally to the apostles. Matthew 28:16. Jesus had utmost faith that they
( the apostles ) would properly interpret this commission once they received the Holy Ghost. Can any dare
say that the apostles disobeyed the Lord or failed to baptize properly?
No one in the church was ever baptized
in the titles, Father, Son, and Holy Ghost
until after the 3rd Century.
The mode of Baptism was changed at the Nicean Council in 325 A.D. by the Hierarchy and Emperor
Constantine. This is recorded in all encyclopedias and church history books. But this message was never
preached by the church in the book of Acts because they understood Matthew 28:19 meant that they were to
baptize their converts in the the name (singular) of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost (which is
JESUS) (Acts 4:12).
Is Baptism a must for salvation?
- The Bible says so. John 3:5 This is not speaking of the natural birth because Jesus said
in John 3:7 Born Again. Mark 16:16 Notice how Jesus places baptism in conjunction with salvation.
I Peter 3:21 This leaves no other way Acts 10: 6 & 48
- It Remits sin. Acts 2:38 "for the remission of your sins" Acts 22:16 "wash away thy sins"
- Baptizes into the Church Gal 3:27 & I Cor 12:13
- Church at Jerusalem Acts 2:41
- Church at Samaria Acts 8:12:16
- Church at Caesarea Acts 10:48
- Church at Philippi Acts 16:14-33
- Church at Corinth Acts 18:8
- Church at Ephesus Acts 19:1-6
- Church at Galatia Galatians 3:27
- Church at Colosse Colossians 2:12
- Church at Rome Romans 6:1-4
Knowing scripturally that there was only one
baptism preached and practiced in the Bible,
Don't you think it is time that you are baptized according to scripture in Jesus Name
and not in the titles Father, Son and Holy Ghost which is the tradition given by men at
Nicea, 325 A.D.
