ROCKENBACH DIES AT HOME

Charles A Rockenbach died at his home one and one-half miles south and one-fourth mile west of El Reno, Wednesday at the age of 91 years. He was born May 8, 1846 in Germany and is a veteran of the Civil war. He came to Canadian county in 1889 and lived nine miles northeast of El Reno, moving to his present home 27 years ago He is survived by four daughters Mrs Eva Wing, Sunburt, Mont. Mrs G.F. Stafford, Mrs W. A White and Mrs Stella Paschall. all of El Reno. Two sons, C. Rockenbach, Greeley Colo. and W. W. Rockenbach, Wrenthan, Canada, two brothers, George and Waldo Rockenback of Calico Rock Ark. 28 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. Funeral will be conducted in First Christian Church here by Rev Warner of Mount Zion. Burial will be in Oak Chapel cemetery.



MRS. ROCKENBACK DIES

Mrs. Permelia Rockenback, wife of Chas A. Rockenback, died Tuesday at her home one and one-half miles south of El Reno at the age of 81 years A week previous to her death she sustained an injury in a fall and from the effects of this failed to recover. The deceased was an eighty-niner In Canadian county She leaves her husband and six children, George Rockenback, Mrs. Nettie White and Mrs. Lizzie Stafford, all of El Reno, Mrs. Eva Wing and Waltar Rochenback of Alberta, Canada and Stella Paschall of Columbus, Ga, She Is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Allie Parks Of Burdon, Kansas, two brothers, J. W. Smith of Kansas City and C. C. Smith of Long Beach, Calif., 26 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren services were conducted Thursday afternoon from the Presbyterian church by Rev. T. G. Mowry and interment was made in Oak Chapel cemetery.



Mrs. White's
Rites Are Held

Mrs. Nettie M. White, 121 North Donald, died Sunday evening. Mrs. White was born in Burden Kan, May 24, 1880, She moved to Oklahoma with her parents in 1889, settling northeast of El Reno, She had iived in Roger Mills County and Shawnee before returning to El Reno in 1910 Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints with Elder John Farris officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery under the direction of Benson Funeral home. she was a member of Ladies of GAR, Rebekahs and the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Survivors include a son, Charles, Guthrie; five daughters Mrs. J. W. Myers 121 North Donald, Mrs. K.G. Sinclair, Oklahoma city, Mrs. J.W. Kaster, Tulsa, Mrs. Laverne Howard, Corning, Mo., and Mrs, Bob Warnberg, Eugene, Ore,; two sisters, Mrs. Stella Paschall, Columbus, GA. and Mrs. Eva Wing, Helena, Mont. one brother, Walter Rockenbach, Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada; 13 grand children 25 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.



Mrs. Stafford
Dies At Home

Mrs. Lizzie Stafford, El Reno route 1, died at her home last Thursday following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Stafford was born Aug 27 1881 in Cowley county Kan. and came to Canadian county with her parents in 1889, settling northeast of El Reno. She had spent her lifetime in Canadian county with the exception of five years spent in Roger Mills county. Survivors include her husband. George F. Stafford of the home. Three daughters, Mrs Eldon Royse Calumet route 2, Mrs Floyd Estes, El Reno route 1 and Mrs Albert Myska. Houston Tex., two sons, Morgan C. Stafford 1108 South Hadden and Roy L. Stafford 920 Sunset drive. Three sisters, Mrs W.A. White 235 North G, Mrs Eva Wing, Helena Mont. and Mrs Stella Paschal Columbus GA. a brother Walter Rockenbach, Lethbridge Alberta Canada, 14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the First Christian church with the Rev. C. Reese Porter minister officiating. Burial was in the Oak Chapel cemetery, northeast of El Reno under direction of the Wilson funeral home.



Eva L. Wing dies at age 91(The Independent Record, Helena, Montana Monday, Feb. 10, 1975 pg 7)

Eva L. Wing, 91 Montana City, died early this morning in St. Peter's Hospital following a brief illness. She was born May 2, 1883, in Burden, Kan. Her family moved to Piedmont, Okla., in 1890, where she attended school in a sod school house. A false alarm of an uprising of the Anadarko Indian Reservation caused the community to stay in the sod school house for two days and nitghts. In 1901, she married her school teacher, Claude Wing, abnd with their threee small children they moved to Alberta, Canada in 1909, to homestead at Lucky Strike. Six more children were born in Canada In 1928 she was prededed in death by her husband. In 1937, she returned to the United States to Sunburst where she made her home with a son. During World Warr II she had five sons who served overseas. In 1949 she came to Helena where she made her home with a son at the Wing Ranch at Montana City. Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Irene Oveson in 1962 and two sons, Rex in 1930 and Lawrence in 1960 Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Maxine Sands, Missoula; sons, Connie, Elmer "John" and James "Pete" both of Montana City, Melvin, Clancy and Ralph, Polson; a brother Walter Rockenbach, Lethbridge, Alta; 28 grandchildren; 67 great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren. Chapel services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 pm from Haglewr Chapel with the Rev. James Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Forestvale cemetery.

Wing Services set Wednesday

Funeral services for Eva L. Wing, 91, Montana City, who died Monday, will be conducted Wednesday at 2 pm from Hagler Chapel with the Rev. James Hunter officiating. Burial will be in Forestvale Cemetery. Mrs. Wing was a member of the Pythian Sisters and American War Mother. Pallbearers will be Ted Schuele, Warren Kiss, Warren Woods, James M. Watne, Tony Wayland and Robert D. Gwaltney. Honary pallbears will be Arthur Walks, Emil Laqua, Grant Gallup, Wilbur Kohles, Al Palmer and Bunchy Haab.



Death of Mr. Claude Wing

Mr. Claude Wing died in Oklahoma City at 2 o'clock this morning. Mr. Wing was the son of Mrs. Susie Edmiston and brother of Mrs. J. A. Whelan and Mrs. Alberta Whelan. Funeral services will be held at the M. E. Church next Saturday morning at 10:30 o'clock, and interment made in the Yukon cemetery. The funeral arrangements are in charge of Mulveys. The mother and sisters of the deceased have the suympathy of the entire community in this hour of bereavement.



Mrs. Edmiston Dies
Tuesday Morning

Death came to Mrs. Susie Edmiston 81 a pioneer of Canadian county. Tuesday morning at 1 oclock ath the home of her daughter, Mrs J.A. Whelan at the corner of 4th and Maple streets. She had been a resident this section for 47 years and sucumbed following a few months illness. Funeral rites were held at the Turner funeral home today, Rev F. A. Danning of the Methodist church and interment was in Mathewson cemetery near Piedmont. Mrs. Edmiston is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Whelan, Yukon and Mrs. Alberta Whalen, Los Angeles, Calif. and by a sister Mrs. Mary Anna Palmer of Piedmont. Also 16 grand children 5 great grandchildren Five of her grandchildren are in the armed forces of their country. Susie Emily Smith was born in Orangeville, Ind, December 29 1858. Her parents died when she was 5 years old after which she lived with a married sister at Noble, Ill. There she married Zebulon Wing and moved to Clay Center Kas. where two children were born. Margaret and Claude. Claude passed away at Yukon in 1930. Her husband Zebulon Wing died at the age of 25 years and Mrs. Wing later married Albert Edmiston and lived in Iowa until coming to Oklahoma in 1896. To their union. two children were born. Alberta and Imogene. Mr. Edmiston passed away in 1918 and Imogene in 1922. Mrs. Edmiston had been a member of the Methodist church since girlhood. She was a good mother with a kind and loving disposition, and enjoyed her friends and all the pleasures of life until her illness of the last few months



Rites Held For
Mrs. Whelan

Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Whelan, Yukon, who died Thursday at St. Anthony Hospital, Oklahoma City, were at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Turner Funeral Home with burial in Yukon Cemetery. Mrs. Whelan Was born Oct. 10, 1882 at Clearwater, Kan. She moved to Piedmont In 1903 and had lived in Yukon since 1920. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Order of Eastern Star, Friday Study club and a charter member of the Yukon Library. Survivors include a son, Hugh F., Phoenix, Ariz., and two daughters, Mrs. S.P. Stormont, Tulsa, and Mrs. E.A, Glover, Midwest City.



WING

Passed away in Lethbridge on Thursday, December 28, 2000, Mr. YVONNE 'CONNIE' EDEN CHARLES WING, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of the late Mrs. Grace Wing. Connie came to Canada as a child of six years. His parents homesteaded at "Lucky Strike" where he lived until 1942. In 1931 Connie and Grace were married, In November of 1942 Connie came to Lethbridge and the following year he enlisted in the Army. He served overseas during WWII until 1945 and then returned to Lethbridge. He worked for the Alberta Government Grain Elevators as an agent until 1965. He then moved to Montana to work with his brother on his ranch. In 1975 Connie returned to Lethbridge and has resided here until his passing. Connie was a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion and recently received his 56 year pin. He was a 50 year member and honorary president of the Army and Navy Airforce Association. He was also a member of Miner's Library and was the eldest member of all these associations. Connie enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and was a member of the Alberta Fish and Wildlife Association. Connie is survived by a daughter, Eva Tarnava of Lethbridge, six grandchildren, Dennis, Carolyn, Debbie, Kevin, Brenda and Shelly; thirteen great grandchildren and two brothers, Melvin Wing of Helena, Montana and Ralph (Marie) Wing of Ronan, Montana. Besides his loving wife Grace, who passed away in 1994, Connie was predeceased by two sons, Roy and Claude; two grandchildren, Perry and John; two sisters Irene and Maxine; and four brothers, John, Pete, Lawrence and Rex. A funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, January 3, 2001 in Martin Bros. Memorial Chapel, 703 - 13 Street North, Lethbridge, with Reverend Larry D. Hankinson officiating. Interment to follow in Mountain View Cemetery, Field of Honor. Funeral Arrangements entrusted to Dale A. Martin Jr. of Martin Bros.



Maxine E. Sands

MISSOULA - Maxine E. Sands, 91, of Missoula died Tuesday, Jan. 6 at her home of natural causes. She was born Oct. 12, 1906, in Piedmont, Okla., to Claude and Eva Wing. She married Raymond Sands on May 1, 1932, in Columbus, Ga. They moved to Missoula in 1957. She worked at the University Of Montana until her retirement in 1971. Maxine was a life member of the Pythian Sisters, serving as grand chief. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where she will be remembered for her fun readings at functions. She was also active in Senior Citizens with quilting and cards. She enjoyed gardening and traveling. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren kept a twinkle In her eye. She was Preceded in death by her husband in 1971, her parents, three stepdaughters, one sister, five brothers and one grandson. Survivors include her sons, Jack and wife, Betty of Portland, Ore Bill and wife; Merrilee Of Helena: Rex and wife, Marion of Lincoln; daughters; Myrtis Yates of Bay City, Ore., Barbara and husband, Roy Miller of Missoula, Hazel Gregg of Pocatello Idaho: brothers, Connie Wing of Lethbridge, Alberta, Mel of Helena and Ralph and wife, Marie of Ronan; 25 grandchildren, 34 great- grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation is Wednesday and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 Pm. and Friday from 10 a.m. to p.m. at Garden City Funeral Home; Funeral services will be Saturday, Jan 10, at 11 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 201 S. 5th W with Eric Jacobsen officiating. Interment follows at the Missoula Cemetery. Following the interment, a reception will be held at the church. The family suggests memorials be made to a charity of the donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of the Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory.



"John" Wing

Elmer E. "John" Wing, 74 of Montana City, died Saturday at Western Care Nursing home. Born in Warner, Alta., Canada on Jan 10, 1912, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Wing, he was a dual citizen of the U.S. and Canada. He moved to Sunburst in 1936, where he worked for the Texas Refining company. He became a certified arc welder/pipe fitter and high pressure steam boiler fireman. He later enlisted in the U.S. Navy as a ship repairman, serving in the South Pacific from 1943-45. After the war he worked in Alaska as a heavy equipment operator and repairman. He also drilled water wells in the Aleutian Islands and on the DEW line above the Arctic Circle. He installed a sewer system in Nome, Alaska and operated the diesel power plant and later the steam power for the Early Warning System at Clear, Alaska. He made his home in Helena during the winter months and retired in 1974. Since 1974 he has been a permanent resident of th Wing ranch near Clancy. Survivers include a sister, Maxine E. Sands of Missoula; brothers Connie Wing of Lethbridge, Alta., J.A. "Pete" Wing and Melvin Wing, both of Helena, and Ralph Wing of Ronan; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11 am at the Hagler-Anderson Chapel. The Rev. Daniel W. Wanders of the Covenant United Methodist Church will officiate. Palbearers will be Bill Sands, Bobby Wing, Tom Wing, Ralph Clare, John C. Mitchel and Bobby Mergenthaler. Interment will be at Forestvale Cemetary.



James A. "Pete" Wing, age 81 of Montana City, died Saturday of natural causes at the Hillbrook Care Center. He was born in Formost, Alberta to Claude and Eva Wing and was raised on the family homestead. He married Frances Mason on July 2, 1942. He joined the U.S. Army and served in WWII. He retired as a major in the U.S. Army Reserve. In 1949, he purchased a ranch in Montana City. James was an avid hunter and gun enthusiast. He also competed nationally in rifle marksmanship and supported junior rifle marksmanship programs One of Jame' best attributes was his love of people. He was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Frances. He is survived by his children, Tom Wing of Montana City, Keith Wing of Piedmont, S.C., and Patti Miller of Montana City; siblings, Connie Wing of Lethbridge, Alberta, Ralph Wing of Ronan, Mel Wing of Helena, and Maxine Sands of Missoula, as well as nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 2 pm at the Hagler-Anderson Chapel in Helena, with the Rev. Lynn Dooley officiating. Burial will take place at Forestvale Cemetery, with Terry and Bob Wing, Rex and Bill Sands, Bob Mergenthaler, and Tony Walland as pallbearers. The burial will be followed by a reception at the First Baptist Church on the corner of 8th and Warren. Memorials are suggested to the Montana State Veterans Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 5715, Helena, Mt 59604-5715
