75. MOLLY DEATHERAGE MORRISON⁴ (Bird³, George², William¹), daughter of Bird and Sarah (English) Deatherage, was born on 25 Mar 1793 [Warren, Ltr]. She died on 10 Jan 1875 in Roane Co., Tennessee, [Warren, Ltr] and was buried in Shiloh Cemetery in that county.

Molly married John Morrison on 17 Mar 1812 in [?] Greene Co., Tennessee [Warren, Ltr]. John, son of James and Mary (Barnard) Morrison, was born on 23 Oct 1785 in Washington Co., North Carolina (present day Tennessee) [Warren, Ltr]. He died on 17 Mar 1864 in Roane Co., Tennessee [Warren, Ltr]. He, too, is buried in Shiloh Cemetery.

76. ALLEN DEATHERAGE⁴ (Bird³, George², William¹), Son of Bird and Sarah (English) Deatherage, was born on 20 Jul 1794 [Tombstone]. He died on 21 Jul 1823 [Tombstone] in Roane Co., Tennessee. He is buried in Shiloh Cemetery, Roane Co., Tennessee.

Allen married Margaret "Peggy" Jolly in Greene Co., Tennessee. Margaret, , daughter of William and Nancy (Wheeler) Jolly, was born on 11 May 1796 [Tombstone]. She died on 9 Jan 1875 [Tombstone] in Roane Co., Tennessee. She is buried in Shiloh Cemetery, Roane Co., Tennessee.

Allen and Peggy were both baptized in to the Baptist faith by Allen's father, Bird. They lived near the foot of Chimney Top Mountain in Greene County. In 1819 they moved by water on flat bottomed boats to the Hiwasse Purchase in Roane County. Their son Bird died on the trip to Roane County.

In Jul 1823 Allen went to his father's to help plow corn. He took off his shoes, which he usually did not do, and went into the field to cut oats for the horses. He saw some blackberries by the way. He beat down the grass and weeds by the blackberries to scare away the snakes. As he went to pick the blackberries a snake bit him. He killed the snake and started home; he fainted along the way. His brother found him and carried him home. He lived another eleven days before he died.

Allen farmed and was a teacher of vocal music.

After Allen's death, Peggy rented her farm to a man for three years. After that her sons farmed the land for her. She was a prudent farmer. She never became involved in debt and always had plenty for a substantial living. She also saw to it that her children received some education, as Allen had stated he wanted his children educated. 77. GEORGE RUSSELL DEATHERAGE⁴ (Bird³, George², William¹), son of Bird and Sarah (English) Deatherage, was born about the year 1794 [Fed Cen 1850]. He apparently died before the 1860 federal census was taken [Fed Cen 1860].

He married Dianna Jolly on 17 Sep 1816 in Greene Co., Tennessee [Bond: County Record]. Russell left her shortly after marriage. Dianna filed for divorce in Aug 1831 in Greene County. Diana, daughter of William and Nancy (Wheeler) Jolly, was born about the year 1798 at Greene Co., Tennessee. She was living at Newton Co., Missouri, in 1850. She married second John Brandon.

George married next, Elizabeth Calloway Pollard. Elizabeth, daughter of Chattin D. and Mary (Greer) Pollard, was born on 4 Jan 1811 [DAR App #627693] in Kentucky. In 1870 Elizabeth was living in Cumberland Co., Tennessee, with her daughter Martha Matilda Hunt.

George was listed as a farmer in the 1850 Bledsoe Co., Tennessee, federal census. Sources

78. JOHN E. DEATHERAGE⁴ (Bird³, George², William¹), son of Bird and Sarah (English) Deatherage, was born on 14 Oct 1802 [English History @34] in Tennessee. He died on 31 Mar 1882 [English History @34] at Jeroldstown, Tennessee.

He married Agnes English on 21 Oct 1824 [English History @34.] Agnes, daughter of Alexander and Mary (Robertson) English, was born on 17 Dec 1807 [English History @33] in Tennessee. She died on 31 Oct 1894 [English History @33] and is buried near Jeroldstown, Tennessee.

80. WILLIAM DEATHERAGE⁴ (Bird³, George², William¹), son of Bird and Sarah (English) Deatherage, was born about the year 1808 [Fed Cen 1850-70]. He died after 1880.

William married first Rosanna Buster. Rosanna, daughter of William Buster, apparently married as her second husband Alexander Deatherage. If that is correct she was born about the year 1814 at Tennessee and died about the year 1860.

William married second Melinda Jolly on 18 Jun 1846 in Roane Co., Tennessee. Melinda, daughter of William and Nancy (Wheeler) Jolly, was born about the year 1815 [Fed Cen 1850] in Tennessee. Melinda's first husband was Absolum Hurst. Absolum was killed by a falling tree limb. She married him on 12 Mar 1833 in Roane Co., Tennessee.

William was a farmer and lived in Roane Co., Tennessee. It is thought he moved his family to Arkansas in the 1870s.Sources

81. BIRD DEATHERAGE⁴ (Bird³, George², William¹), son of Bird and Sarah (English) Deatherage, was born 17 Jan 1814, in Tennessee [Stanfill @118]. He died in 1908 in Flippin, Marion Co., Arkansas [Stanfill @118].

He married Lucinda Allen C. Pollard about the year 1833 probably in Roane Co., Tennessee. Lucinda, daughter of Chattin D. and Mary (Greer) Pollard, was born 17 Jan 1814 [DAR App #627693] in Kentucky. She died 10 Aug 1896 in Three Brothers, Arkansas [Marilyn Deatherage].

Bird moved his family to Arkansas after the birth of his son Chatten. He was living in Perry Township, Johnson Co., Arkansas, in 1850 [Fed Cen]. Bird moved to Missouri during the Civil War where two of his sons joined the Union Army. He returned to Arkansas and settled near Colfax meeting house. The meeting house was built when he was a school director of the district. He later moved to Three Brothers where his son John G. Deatherage built the first schoolhouse [Baxter County History]. Eliza married David Graham. David, son of David and Majey Graham, was born on 18 Jul 1812 in Tennessee. He died on 21 Mar 1902 in White Co., Tennessee. He, too, is buried in Dalton-Graham Cemetery. Sources

82. ELIZABETH DEATHERAGE MATHENY⁴ (Abner³, George², William¹) daughter of Abner, was born on 22 Dec 1800 [Tombstone]. She died 13 Jan 1899 [Tombstone] and is buried in Lewis Cemetery, Roane County, Tennessee.

Elizabeth married James Matheny on 9 Apr 1819 in Greene Co., Tennessee [Bond: County Record]. James, son of Elijah and Mary Ann (Davis) Matheny, died in 1865 in South Carolina [County Record]. He deserted Elizabeth and ran off with her brother William James Deatherage's wife, Elizabeth Ahart Deatherage. Sources

83. NANCY DEATHERAGE JOLLY⁴ (Abner³, George², William¹), daughter of Abner Deatherage, was born about the 1803 [1850 federal census]. She apparently died between 1860 and 1864.

Nancy married William Jolly on 11 Dec 1821 in Roane Co., Tennessee [Bond: County Record]. William, son of William and Nancy (Wheeler) Jolly, was born about the year 1802 in Greene Co., Tennessee. William died about 1875 at Rhea Co., Tennessee [Probate Records].

William Jolly married second Elizabeth "Betsy" Ellis, widow of James Knox, on 22 Sep 1864, at Rhea Co., Tennessee. Elizabeth Ellis married first James Knox on 17 Apr 1817 at Rhea Co, Tennessee. Elizabeth was born 17 Mar 1802. She died 2 Jul 1875 and is buried next to her first husband at Rhea Co, Tennessee.Sources

James married Elizabeth Ahart on 30 May 1831 in Roane Co., Tennessee [Bond: County Record]. James and Elizabeth were divorced 27 Mar 1843. About August 1838 Elizabeth ran off with James Matheny to South Carolina. James Matheny was the husband of James Deatherage's sister Elizabeth.

James married second Sarah Gideon on 19 November 1843 in Roane County, Tennessee [County Record]. Sarah, daughter of Roger and Magdaline Gideon, was born about the year 1824 [Fed Cen 1850] in Tennessee. She died after 1870. Sources

86. ABNER DEATHERAGE⁴ (Abner³, George², William¹), son of Abner Deatherage, was born 3 Jan 1810 [Tombstone] in Tennessee. He died 28 Nov 1886 [Tombstone]. He is buried at Smithfield Cem., Tarrant Co., Texas.

Abner married Mary Almeady Marney on 24 May 1839 in Roane Co., Tennessee [Bond: County Record married to "Almeady" Marney]. Mary, daughter of Samuel and Elizabeth (Spence) Marney, was born 10 Apr 1822 in Tennessee. She died 6 Jul 1905 and is buried at Edgemon Cemetery, Meigs Co., Tennessee.

Abner's widow apparently applied or received a pension for his service in the Cherokee Wars. Abner was also private in the Tarrant County Hussars during the Civil War. He was in Tarrant Co, Texas, by 1860 when he paid taxes in that county. He was living there in 1880 when the census taker came. After his death his wife apparently moved back to Tennessee. Sources

Mary married John Jolly on 19 Aug 1828 in Roane Co., Tennessee [County Record, Bondsman: William Jolly]. John, son of William and Nancy (Wheeler) Jolly, was born about the year 1809 at Greene Co., Tennessee. He died in 1860 at Rhea Co., Tennessee.

John married second Lydia (Breeden) Hodge, the widow of William A. Hodge, on 5 Nov 1849 at Roane Co, Tennessee [County Record]. Lydia was born about 1806 [1850 federal census]. She married William A. Hodge on 10 Jun 1825 at Roane Co, Tennessee. [County Record] Lydia Breeden Hodge Jolly married third John Booker on 1 Jan 1865 at Rhea Co., Tennessee. Lydia married fourth Joab Foust on 5 Sep 1880 at Rhea Co., Tennessee.Sources

She married Benjamin Snow on 8 Jul 1834 in Roane Co., Tennessee [County Record]. He was born about the year 1812 at North Carolina [Fed Cen 1860]. Benjamin married second Cynthia (Adams) Farris on 27 May 1864 at Roane Co., Tennessee. Benjamin died before 1900.

Cynthia Adams married George Farris on 10 Jul 1847 at Roane Co., Tennessee. Cynthia was born about Sep 1818 at North Carolina. She died after 1900. Sources

Lucinda married John Anderson Matheny on 26 Nov 1835 in Roane Co., Tennessee [County Record, Bondsman: Abner Deatherage, marriage performed by M.H. Sellers, M.G.]. John, son of Elijah Matheny and Mary Ann (Davis) Matheny, was born 20 Feb 1812 [Gerdts Ltr] at Roane Co., Tennessee. He died 5 Nov 1878 at Jackson Co., Tennessee. He is buried at Owens Cemetery, Jackson Co., Tennessee.

John appears to have married, second, Margaret Elizabeth Byers Lacy about the year 1866. Margaret, daughter of Alexander W. and Scitha Byers, was born about the year 1843 at Tennessee.

Allen married second Martha Jane Kindrick on 9 May 1872 at Roane Co., Tennessee [County Record]. She was born about the year 1834 in Tennessee [Fed Cen 1870].

In 1860 Allen and his family were living in McMinn Co., Tennessee. He listed his occupation as Baptist Minister. By 1870 they were living in Overton Co., Tennessee, and Allen listed his occupation as farmer. Sources

Sarah married Alexander English Brandon on 30 May 1844 at Roane Co., Tennessee [County Record, by William Deatherage, J.P.]. Alexander, son of John A. and Diannah Elizabeth (Jolly) Brandon, was born about the year 1824 at Tennessee [Fed Cen 1850 & 1860]. He died after 1860.

The Brandons moved to Missouri between 1847 and 1849. Sources

91. JENNETT "JANE" DEATHERAGE TILLEY⁴ (Abner³, George², William¹), daughter of Abner and Elizabeth (Morrison) Deatherage, was born about the year 1827 at Roane Co., Tennessee [Fed Cen 1850]. She died before 1900.

Jennett married Jeremiah M. Tilley on 26 Oct 1848 at Roane Co., Tennessee [County Record, by William Deatherage, J.P.]. Jeremiah, son of John and Mary Tilley, was born 19 Oct 1824 at Stokes Co., North Carolina [CSA Pension Application S12165]. He died 13 Mar 1912 in Erie, Roane Co, Tennessee [Roane Co, TN Records of Births & Deaths Book 1909-1912].

Private J.C. Tilley enlisted on 11 Aug 1863 at Kingston, Roane Co., TN in Welcker's Battalion Tennessee Calvary [State Troops], Capt. Kincaid's Co. [Co. B]. He was released as a Rebel Deserter on 11 Feb 1864 at Kingston, on taking the oath of allegiance." [CSA Service Record] In his pension application he stated: Battles, my service was in guarding Wagon Trains and taking care of Beef Cattle for the Army; Discharged, was on pickett duty on the Tennessee River near Kingston and my command left me without my knowledge and I did not know where to go find them; Disability, I became deaf in the service. John married second Nancy Marlar on 29 Nov 1868 at Alcorn Co., Mississippi. She was born about the year 1830 at Mississippi. [1880 federal census; 1870 federal census shows her born in Tennessee]

John married third a Ms. Womack. She is buried at Carter Cemetery, Michie, McNairy Co., Tennessee. [Stanfill @137]

During the Civil War, John served in Kincaid's Co., Welker's Cavalry Battalion (Tennessee State Troops).
