113. LOUISA DEATHERAGE ROGERS4 (Coleman3, George2, William1), daughter of Coleman and Elizabeth (Deatherage) Deatherage, was born on 30 Dec 1820 [Wheeler]. She died in 1878 [Wheeler] and is buried at Rogers Cemetery, near Waverly, Morgan Co., Illinois.

Louisa married Joseph Rogers on 21 May 1834 in Morgan Co., Illinois [County Record]. Joseph, son of the Reverend William and Elizabeth C. Rogers, was born in 1814 [Martin] in Kentucky. He died on 2 Aug 1894 [Martin] and is buried at Rogers Cemetery, near Waverly, Morgan Co., Illinois.

Joseph was called "Little Uncle Dad," because of his small stature weighing between 60 and 70 pounds. He had read the Bible through many times and the New Testament 560 times [Martin]. Sources

120. JAMES STEPHEN DEATHERAGE4 (Coleman3, George2, William1), son of Coleman and Elizabeth (Deatherage) Deatherage, was born on 15 Aug 1842 [Obituary] in Morgan Co., Illinois. He died on 11 Jul 1932 [Obituary] at Munden, Republic Co., Kansas. He was buried on 14 Jul 1932 [Obituary] at Maple Grove Cemetery, near Narka, Republic Co., Kansas.

James married Amanda Sharp on 28 Jan 1866 [James' Obituary] in Morgan Co., Illinois. Amanda, daughter of Isaac and Chloe (Berry) Sharp, was born on 17 Feb 1844 at Scottsville, Macoupin Co., Illinois [Obituary]. She died on 6 Aug 1918 at Chappell, Deuel Co., Nebraska [Obituary]. She was buried at Chappell, however in 1932 she was reburied at Narka next to her husband.

At the age of 19 James enlisted in Co., G, 101st Regiment Illinois Volunteer Infantry and served until 7 Jun 1865 when he was honorably discharged at Washington, D.C. On his discharge certificate it states he was 5' 7 1/4", had a florid complexion, gray eyes and sandy hair. After the war he was a member of the G.A.R. James and Amanda moved to Republic Co., Kansas, in 1882, where they resided, except for four years residence in Labette Co., Kansas, until their deaths. James was a Methodist. He joined the Appalonia church on the Waverly circuit. He was made a Mason in the Waverly Lodge on 18 September 1870. At the time of his death he was the oldest Mason in Republic County and one of the oldest in Kansas.

Besides raising their ten children James and Amanda raised an orphan, Henry Ford. Sources

Her funeral was preached from the First Methodist Episcopal Church and she was buried four days later on 15 Sep 1916 [Obituary] in East Cemetery, Waverly, Morgan Co., Illinois.

Margaret married Moses Turner on 3 Apr 1850 in Morgan Co., Illinois [County Record]. Moses, son of Ezekiel and Jane (Gotschall) Turner, was born 24 November 1819 [Stewart]. He died on 8 January 1865 [Margaret's Obituary].

Margaret Deatherage professed faith in Christ in 1845 at a meeting of the Franklin Methodist Episcopal Church. When the Methodist Episcopal Church was built in Appalonia in 1850 she moved her membership there, where she kept it until her death. Sources

Edward married Jane P. Scribner on 28 Sep 1865 at Morgan Co., Illinois [County Record]. Jane was born about 1848 in Tennessee. She apparently married, second, Miles J. Abbott on 28 Mar 1871 at Morgan Co., Illinois.

Edward enlisted as a Sergeant in Co. G, 101st Illinois Volunteer Infantry on 9 Aug 1862, for three years. His certificate of disability shoes he was born in Waverly, Illinois, 22 years of age, 5 feet 9 3/4 inches, dark complexion, hazel eyes, dark hair, and his occupation was listed as farmer. He was discharged because of disability on 30 Apr 1863 at Memphis, Tennessee, because of gunshot wound received at battle of Holly Springs, Dec. 20th, 1862, injuring tarsal bones and producing anchylosis of left joint ankle joint. Disability one fourth. The place he desired to be addressed was Waverly, Morgan Co., Illinois. His military service record indicates he was wounded accidentally at Cold Water, Mississippi, and gives his discharge date as May 3, 1863.
