My wife and I created this scholarship at
Chairman,
Proposition "O" was a proposed local San Diego rent control measure. For this activity, I researched rent control laws in other cities, worked with a public relations firm to develop strategy, managed 1200 volunteers, and oversaw the fund raising of $450,000, the largest amount of money ever raised for a local initiative up to that point in time. I was primary debater for all media work and major public forums, the largest of which was attended by over 1,000 people. The measure was defeated 3-1.
Chairman, Board of Directors of Project Oz
Project Oz is a juvenile diversion program for
troubled youth. In addition to the general duties of a chairman, I counseled
runaway teenagers and conducted a public relations program in order to raise
community awareness. My efforts and those of my co-volunteers eventually led to
