Barons Repeat as Metro-Mesa Champions!;
Bonita Vista blanks visiting Sweetwater 4-0 for back-to-back crowns;
Senior Elie Magracia knocked in 2 goals to lead the Barons against a spirited Red Devils team in bone-chilling weather that dipped into the low 30's. Fellow senior Sarah Grable and sophomore Carly Schoch each scored as well. The assists came from Ivana Marcks, Laura Ooi, Schoch and Grable. A 0-0 tie with Eastlake was the only blemish to an undefeated league schedule (9-0-1), improving on last years 9-1-0. Sophomore goalkeeper, Linsey McFarland, continued her astonish play in goal by recording her 9th shutout in 10 league contests. The one goal allowed ranks this edition of Barons defense with those great back lines from the past. McFarlands 16 season shutouts also ranks her among Bonita Vista's best.

DEFEAT OTAY RANCH 4-1, All is right in the Universe
Two goals by junior Sarah Grable and one each by Marisa Matkin and Elie Magracia led the way as BV pounded out a convincing victory over the Mustangs, and will hang the 2006-07 championship banner in the gym. The match, played last Thursday, was "winner takes all" event with 2nd place Otay Ranch hoping to capture its first-ever crown. Grable opened the scoring with a fine shot to the back of the net. Magracia was taken down hard in the penalty area and was awarded a penalty kick. She banged the ball cleanly past a diving Mustangs keeper. Matkin's goal, early into the 2nd half, was a classic strike from 20 yards that froze the goalkeeper. Grable added her 2nd score on a scramble near the goal-mouth.
